Hadith 18

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ فَائِدٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَهُ غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ وَلَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: مَا مِنْ أَمِيرِ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَّا يُؤْتَى بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَغْلُولًا، لَا يَفُكُّهُ مِنْ غُلِّهِ إِلَّا الْعَدْلُ ! وَمَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ، ثُمَّ نَسِيَهُ - لَقِيَ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ (أَجْذَمَ .) !
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin 'Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Every person who is made responsible for the affairs of a group will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in a state of captivity, and only justice will release him from that captivity. And whoever recites the Qur'an and then forgets it, he will meet Allah in such a state as if his limbs are cut off.
