بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي اسْتِئْمَارِ الْبِكْرِ وَالثَّيِّبِChapter: What is reported regarding seeking the consent of a virgin and a previously married woman
Hadith 1754

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: نا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ امْرَأَةِ بَكْرٍ وَزَوْجِهَا؛ أَنْكَحَهَا أَبُوهَا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهَا " قَالَ: وَحُدِّثْتُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُنْكِحَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنَاتِهِ جَلَسَ عِنْدَ خِدْرِهَا، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ فُلَانًا يَذْكُرُ فُلَانَةَ»
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) separated a woman and her husband because the father had married her off without her permission, and when he (the Prophet) would marry off his daughters, he would come near the curtain and say: "So-and-so is mentioning (proposing to) so-and-so."
