Hadith 1734

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: «تُسْتَأْمَرُ الْيَتِيمَةُ فِي نَفْسِهَا، فَإِنْ سَكَتَتْ فَهُوَ رِضَاهَا، وَإِنْ أَنْكَرَتْ لَمْ تُنْكَحْ»
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Permission should be sought from the orphan girl; if she remains silent, that is permission, and if she refuses, then the marriage should not be conducted."
