بَابٌ فِي الْمُكَاتَبِ يَمُوتُ وَيَتْرُكُ وَرَثَةً وَعَلَيْهِ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنْ مُكَاتَبَتِهِChapter: The mukatab (contracted slave) dies leaving heirs and still owes part of his contract
Hadith 1661

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ النَّخَعِيِّ فِي الرَّجُلِ يُهْدَى لِلرَّجُلِ فَيَمُوتُ , قَالَ: «أَيُّهُمَا مَا مَاتَ فَهُوَ لِلْمُرْسِلِ مِنْهُمَا، إِذَا كَانَ الْمَوْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَصِلَ إِلَى الْمُرْسَلِ الْمُرْسَلُ إِلَيْهِ»
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If either the giver or the receiver of a gift dies, then the gift will belong to the one who is to return it, as long as it has not been received."
