بَابٌ فِي الْمُكَاتَبِ يَمُوتُ وَيَتْرُكُ وَرَثَةً وَعَلَيْهِ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنْ مُكَاتَبَتِهِChapter: The mukatab (contracted slave) dies leaving heirs and still owes part of his contract
Hadith 1660

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: " إِذَا أَوْصَى الرَّجُلُ إِلَى مُكَاتَبَهِ، فَقَالَ الْمُكَاتَبُ: قَدْ أَنْفَقْتُ نُجُومِي عَلَى مَوَالِيَّ، صُدِّقَ فِي ذَلِكَ، وَإِذَا أَوْصَى إِلَى عَبْدِهِ وَقَالَ: إِنِّي كَاتَبْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَنْفَقْتُ مُكَاتَبَتِي عَلَى مَوَالِيَّ، لَمْ يُصَدَّقْ فِي ذَلِكَ "
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If a mukatab says that he has spent his money on his masters, he will be considered truthful; if a slave says so, it will not be accepted."
