Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "If someone marries his umm walad (a slave woman who has borne him a child) and she bears children, then when the mother is freed, the children will also be freed."

Brief Explanation
Yahya ibn Ma'in said: "The narrations of Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash from the people of Madinah, especially from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar, are sound" (al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil 2/204).

Ibn Hajar said: He is trustworthy (saduq) in his narrations from the people of al-Sham, but as for his narrations from others, there is weakness in them. However, some shaykhs may be excepted from this.

Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash's narration from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar is acceptable because the hadith scholars have mentioned irregularity (nakarah) in Isma'il's narrations from non-Shamis, but there are no specific examples of weakness regarding 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar. Rather, some hadith scholars have declared Isma'il's narration from 'Ubaydullah to be authentic (sahih).
