Hadith 1629

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: «إِذَا بَاعَ خِدْمَةَ الْمُدَبَّرِ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ فَمَاتَ وَقَدْ بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ فَهُوَ حُرٌّ، وَلَا شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِ»
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If a mudabbar slave sold his own service and some debt remained, then after his death he will be free and nothing will be obligatory upon him."
