Hadith 1618

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ غُلَامًا لَهُ عَنْ دُبُرٍ، لَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَغَضِبَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ، وَدَعَا الْغُلَامَ فَبَاعَهُ بِسَبْعِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ، ثُمَّ دَفَعَ الثَّمَنَ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «اسْتَنْفِقْهُ» .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a man made his slave a mudabbar (freed him after his death) and he had nothing else besides him. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed, he became angry and sold him for seven hundred dirhams, gave the price to the man, and said: "Use it for your expenses."
