بَابُ الرَّجُلِ يُعْتِقُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُChapter: A man frees a slave at his death and has no other wealth
Hadith 1584

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي عُذْرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ أَعْتَقَ غُلَامًا لَهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ، فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَعْتَقَ مِنْهُ الثُّلُثَ، وَاسْتَسْعَى فِي الثُّلُثَيْنِ
A man freed his slave at the time of his death, and he had no other wealth. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "One third of the slave should be freed, and the slave should be ordered to work to pay the price of the remaining two thirds."
