بَابٌ: هَلْ يُوصِي الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَالِهِ بِأَكْثَرَ مِنَ الثُّلُثِChapter: Can a man bequeath more than a third of his wealth?
Hadith 1530

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، وَمَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: «إِذَا أَوْصَى الرَّجُلُ بِالثُّلُثِ أَوِ الرُّبُعِ كَانَتِ الْوَصِيَّةُ عَلَى الْعَاجِلِ وَالْآجِلِ فَإِذَا أَوْصَى بِدَرَاهِمَ مُسَمَّاةٍ، أَوْ بِثَوْبٍ، أَوْ بِدَابَّةٍ كَانَتِ الْوَصِيَّةُ فِي الْعَاجِلِ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الثُّلُثِ»
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "When a person makes a bequest of a third or a quarter, it will apply to both cash and debt. And when someone makes a bequest of a specified amount of dirhams, clothing, or a mount, it will be counted from the cash until the third is completed."
