بَابُ النَّهْيِ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَلَاءِ وَهِبَتِهِChapter on the prohibition of selling or gifting wala' (right of inheritance from freed slaves)
Hadith 1459

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ نَسَمَةً لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ فَانْطَلَقَ فَوَالَى رَجُلًا قَالَ: «لَيْسَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَهَبَهُ الْمُعْتِقُ»
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about a person who freed a slave for the sake of Allah, then that slave went and established allegiance (wala’) with someone else. He replied: “This is not permissible, unless the emancipator himself gifts him (to someone else).”
