بَابُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ عَلَى الْمِيرَاثِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْسَمَChapter on one who accepts Islam before the inheritance is distributed
Hadith 1383

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ، يُسْلِمُ عَلَى يَدَيِ الرَّجُلِ، أَيَرِثُهُ؟ قَالَ: «لَا وَلَا، إِلَّا لِذِي نِعْمَةٍ، مَالُهُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَعَقْلُهُ أَرَاهُ عَلَيْهِمْ»
It was asked from Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a person accepts Islam at someone's hand, will he be his heir? He replied: "No, except for the one who has done a favor; otherwise, his wealth will belong to the Muslims and the blood money will be upon them."
