Hadith 1358

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ وَابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يُوَرِّثَانِ الْأَرْحَامَ دُونَ الْمَوَالِي قِيلَ: فَعَلِيٌّ؟ قَالَ: كَانَ أَشَدَّهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ "
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to give inheritance to the womb relatives, not to the slaves. It was asked: "What was the case of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He said: "He was the strictest of all."
