Hadith 1337

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِلشَّعْبِيِّ: إِنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَضَى فِي رَجُلٍ تَرَكَ ابْنَتَهُ أَوْ أُخْتَهُ، فَأَعْطَاهَا الْمَالَ كُلَّهُ. فَقَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ: قَدْ كَانَ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ، كَانَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يَفْعَلُهُ
It is narrated from Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that Abu Ubaidah bin Abdullah gave all the wealth to a man's daughter or sister. Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "People better than them also used to do this, such as Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)."
