Hadith 133

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمَّارٍ الدُّهْنِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا فَرَضَ - أَوْ أَعْطَى - لِمَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ أَلْفَيْنِ أَلْفَيْنِ، وَكَانَ أَبِي مِمَّنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَمْ يَأْخُذْ .
It is narrated from Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed two thousand (dirhams) for the one who recited the Qur'an, and my father was also among those who recited the Qur'an, but he did not take it.
