Hadith 1291

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ أَبِي يَرُدُّ فُضُولَ الْمَالِ عَنِ الْفَرَائِضِ عَلَى بَيْتِ الْمَالِ، وَلَا يَرُدُّ عَلَى وَارِثٍ شَيْئًا»
Kharijah bin Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I saw my father (Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit, may Allah be pleased with him) that after distributing the prescribed shares, he would return the surplus wealth to the treasury and would not give anything back to any heir.
