Hadith 1290

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنبأ مُغِيرَةُ، قَالَ: نا الشَّعْبِيُّ، قَالَ: مَا رَدَّ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَلَى ذَوِي الْقَرَابَاتِ شَيْئًا قَطُّ، كَانَ يُعْطِي أَهْلَ الْفَرَائِضِ فَرَائِضَهُمْ، وَيَجْعَلُ مَا بَقِيَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَالِ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ عَصَبَةٌ "
Shu'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) would not return anything to the relatives. He would give the people of fixed shares their portions, and whatever remained, he would place in the treasury if there was no 'asaba (residuary heir).
