Hadith 129

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ: كُنْتُ أَسِيرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ظَلْمَاءَ، فَسَمِعَ قَارِئًا يَقْرَأُ: { قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ } فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ .، وَسِرْنَا، فَسَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ: { قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ } فَقَالَ: أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ، فَكَفَفْتُ رَاحِلَتِي لِأَنْظُرَ مَنْ هُوَ فَأُبَشِّرُهُ، فَنَظَرْتُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا .
Abu Al-Hasan Al-Taymi, may Allah have mercy on him, reports from a man: I was traveling with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a dark night when someone was heard reciting Surah «قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ», so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This person has been absolved of shirk. Then we moved on and heard someone else reciting Surah «قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ», so he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This person has been forgiven. I wanted to stop my mount to see to whom I could give this glad tidings, but when I looked to the right and left, I saw no one.
