سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقِ بْنِ الْأَجْدَعٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ فِي أَخَوَاتٍ لِأَبٍ وَأُمٍّ، وَإِخْوَةٍ وَأَخَوَاتٍ لِأَبٍ، لِلْأَخَوَاتِ مِنَ الْأَبِ وَالْأُمِّ الثُّلُثَانِ، وَسَائِرُ الْمَالِ لِلذَّكَرِ دُونَ الْإِنَاثِ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ مَسْرُوقٌ الْمَدِينَةَ فَسَمِعَ قَوْلَ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ فِيهَا فَأَعْجَبَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ: أَتَتْرُكَ قَوْلَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَوَجَدْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ مِنَ الرَّاسِخِينَ فِي الْعِلْمِ "
Masruq bin Ajda’ (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: “When there are paternal and maternal sisters present, and along with them there are only paternal siblings, then the maternal and paternal sisters will receive two-thirds, and the remainder will go only to the male (i.e., the brother), and nothing will be given to the women.” Then when I reached Madinah and heard the statement of Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), I liked it. So some of his companions said: “Will you abandon the statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud?” He replied: “When I came to Madinah, I found Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) to be firmly grounded in knowledge.”
