الْآيَتَانِ (118 - 119) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ * إِلا مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ} الْآيَةَVerses (118 - 119) His saying, Exalted is He: {And if your Lord had willed, He could have made mankind one community; but they will not cease to differ. * Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them} the verse
Hadith 1106

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَطَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَرِيزٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: { وَلا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ * إِلا مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ وَلِذَلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ } - قَالَ: خَلَقَهُمْ لِلرَّحْمَةِ .
When ‘Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about the statement of Allah, the Exalted: “And they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has mercy upon, and for that He created them,” he said: Allah created them for mercy.
