Allah, exalted be His praise, says: "Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts." [Surah al-Nur: 30]

Al-Wadin (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from some of the elders that they disliked gazing intently at a beardless youth with a handsome face.
This has also been narrated from Baqiyyah, from al-Wazza' bin Nafi' (who is da'if (weak)), from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), as a marfu' report with part of its meaning; but what is well known from Baqiyyah is what we have mentioned. Abu Hafs Umar al-Tahhan narrated a mawdu' (fabricated) hadith with this meaning from al-Thawri, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), as marfu'. The verse we have mentioned suffices in place of anything else, and the trial (fitnah) in it is evident and needs no report to make it clear. Success is from Allah Almighty, and Allah, Glorified, knows best.
