Hadith 4794
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، نَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، نَا أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ . 25 ح وَنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ الْمَرْوَرُّوذِيُّ ، يُعْرَفُ بِابْنِ الْهَرْشِ ، قَالَ : وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ جَدِّي ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، نَا أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ ، نَا أَبُو فَرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : نزلت مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ عَلَى دِهْقَانَ فَأَتَانَا بِطَعَامٍ فَطَعِمْنَا ، فَدَعَا حُذَيْفَةُ بِشَرَابٍ فَأَتَاهُ بِشَرَابٍ فِي إِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، فَأَخَذَ الإِنَاءَ فَضَرَبَ بِهِ وَجْهَهُ ، فَسَاءَ بِالَّذِي صَنَعَ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ : هَلْ تَدْرُونَ لِمَ صَنَعْتُ هَذَا ؟ ، قُلْنَا : لا ، قَالَ : نَزَلْنَا بِهِ فِي الْعَامِ الْمَاضِي ، فَأَتَانِي بِشَرَابٍ فِيهِ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَانَا أَنْ نَأْكُلَ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ ، وَأَنْ نَشْرَبَ فِيهِمَا ، وَلا نَلْبَسَ الْحَرِيرَ ، وَلا الدِّيبَاجَ ، فَإِنَّهُمَا لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، وَهُمَا لَنَا فِي الآخِرَةِ " .
Imam Muhammad bin Hasan Shaybani, on the authority of Imam Abu Hanifa (may Allah have mercy on him), narrates the statement of Abdur Rahman bin Layla: I went with Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) to a farmer. He brought food to us, and we ate it. Then Sayyiduna Hudhayfah asked for water, so that person brought a drink to him in a silver vessel. Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) took the vessel and struck it on its mouth; he disliked this action of his. Then Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) explained: We came to him last year as well, and he brought a drink to me in this same vessel. I had told him that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from eating or drinking anything in gold or silver vessels, or from wearing silk or brocade garments. (The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) "These two things are for the polytheists in this world, but in the Hereafter, they will be for us."
Hadith 4795
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نَا أَبُو حَيْدَرَةَ حَيْدُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، نَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : وَنا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، وَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا قَدْ دَخَلَ فِي حَدِيثِ صَاحِبِهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لا تَشْرَبُوا فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ ، وَالْفِضَّةِ ، وَلا تَأْكُلُوا فِيهِمَا " .
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, in it the words are: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not drink from vessels of gold and silver, and do not eat from them."
Hadith 4796
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو صَالِحٍ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ ، نَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ ، نَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ اسْتَسْقَى ، فَأَتَاهُ دِهْقَانُ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَأَخَذَهُ فَرَمَاهُ بِهِ ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَشْرَبَ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ ، وَأَنْ نَأْكُلَ فِيهِمَا ، وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ ، وَأَنْ نَجْلِسَ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he asked for water to drink, so a farmer brought him water in a silver vessel. Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) took it and threw it away, and then said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from drinking or eating anything in gold or silver vessels, and he also forbade us from wearing silk and brocade and from sitting on them.
