Hadith 4202
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, I was presented before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and at that time I was fourteen years old. He did not permit me to participate, as he did not consider me to have reached maturity. Then, on the occasion of the Battle of Khandaq, I was presented before him, and at that time I was fifteen years old, so he permitted me to participate. The narrator states: I informed Sayyiduna Umar bin Abdul Aziz about this, so he wrote to his government officials that they should pay a salary only to the person who has reached the age of fifteen. It was the practice of Sayyiduna Umar bin Abdul Aziz that he fixed a salary of one hundred dirhams for a boy of fifteen years. This narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration.
Hadith 4203
Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I have traveled with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) many times. I saw that whenever he passed by the corpse of a human being, he would not move forward until he had ordered it to be buried. He did not inquire whether the person was a Muslim or a disbeliever.
Hadith 4204
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave orders regarding Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him), and his body was placed facing the Qiblah. Then seven takbirs were said over him. Then the other martyrs were also gathered around him until the Prophet (peace be upon him) offered prayer over them seventy times. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw that Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) had been mutilated, he said: "If I gain power over the Quraysh, I will mutilate thirty of their men in the same way." So Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: "If they punish you, then punish them with the like of that with which you were afflicted." The narrator of this report, Abdul Aziz bin Imran, is weak.
Hadith 4205
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). His lips, nose, ears, etc. had been cut off and he had been mutilated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If it were not for Safiyyah's distress, I would have left him as he was, until Allah (on the Day of Resurrection) would resurrect him from the bellies of birds and beasts." Then Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) was given a sheet as a shroud; when his head was covered, his feet became exposed, and when his feet were covered, his head became exposed. So his head was covered. No funeral prayer was offered for any martyr other than him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am a witness over you people today." These words of the narration were transmitted only by the narrator named Uthman: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer the funeral prayer for any martyr other than him." These words are not preserved.
Hadith 4206
This narration is also transmitted with another chain, however, it contains these additional words: "Izkhir grass was placed under their feet, and the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) did not perform the funeral prayer for any martyr other than them. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'I am a witness over you people on this day.' Two or three martyrs were buried together in one grave."
Hadith 4207
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Those who were martyred at Uhud were not given a bath, they were buried with their blood, and their funeral prayer was not performed.
Hadith 4208
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will be a witness for these people on the Day of Resurrection." Then, by the order of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they were buried with their blood. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform their funeral prayer, nor were they given a ritual bath. This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the polytheists left after the Battle of Uhud, leaving behind those who had been killed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw something that caused him great distress. He saw Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) that his stomach had been cut open, his nose had been cut off, and both his ears had been severed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If I did not fear that women would grieve, or that this would become a custom after me, I would have left him as he was, until Allah resurrected him from the bellies of wild beasts and birds. I will mutilate seventy men in place of him.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for his cloak and covered the face of Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) with it, but his feet remained uncovered. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) covered his face and placed grass over his feet. Then he brought him forward and said takbeer over him ten times. After that, one by one, people were brought and placed, while the body of Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) remained there, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed seventy funeral prayers over him, because the number of martyrs at the Battle of Uhud was seventy. When they had been buried and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished, this verse was revealed: “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction.” The verse continues: “Be patient, and your patience is only with the help of Allah.” So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was patient and did not mutilate anyone. This narration has only been transmitted by the narrator Isma’il ibn ‘Ayyash, and in the narrations he has transmitted from narrators other than the Syrians, there is some inconsistency.
