مَا جَاءَ فِي أَكْلِ لُحُومِ الصَّيْدِ لِلْمُحْرِمِ
What is reported regarding eating game meat for the Muhrim
Hadith 2744
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، أَنَّ عَمْرًا مَوْلَى الْمُطَّلِبِ أَخْبَرَهُمَا ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَيْدُ الْبَرِّ لَكُمْ حَلالٌ ، وَأَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌ مَا لَمْ تَصِيدُوهُ أَوْ يُصَادْ لَكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The game of the land has been made lawful for you while you are in the state of ihram, as long as you did not hunt it yourself, nor was it hunted for you."
Hadith 2745
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا الرَّبِيعُ ، أنا الشَّافِعِيُّ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
The same narration is also transmitted from Sayyiduna Jabir with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 2746
ثنا أَبُو طَالِبٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، نا عبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الأَعْمَى ، نا محَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ ، نا مالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ .
The same narration is also reported from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 2747

Hadith 2748
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، نا الرَّبِيعُ ، نا الشَّافِعِيُّ ، نا عبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ . قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ ، رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ : ابْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى أَحْفَظُ مِنَ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيِّ ، وَمَعَ ابْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلالٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration from Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 2749
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، فَأَحْرَمَ أَصْحَابِي وَلَمْ أُحْرِمْ ، فَرَأَيْتُ حِمَارًا فَحَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاصْطَدْتُهُ ، فَذَكَرْتُ شَأْنَهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَذَكَرْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَحْرَمْتُ وَأَنِّي لِذَا اصْطَدْتُهُ لَكَ ، فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَأَكَلُوا وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ حِينَ أَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنِّي اصْطَدْتُهُ لَهُ " . قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، قَوْلُهُ : اصْطَدْتُهُ لَكَ ، وَقَوْلُهُ : وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ ، لا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا ذَكَرَهُ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ غَيْرُ مَعْمَرٍ ، وَهُوَ مُوَافِقٌ لِمَا رُوِيَ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ.
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him): On the occasion of Hudaybiyyah, I set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) (to perform ‘Umrah). My companions put on the Ihram, but I did not put on the Ihram. I saw a wild donkey and attacked it, hunting it. Then I related this incident to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), mentioning that I was not in the state of Ihram at that time and that I hunted it for you. So the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions, and those gentlemen ate that meat, but the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat it because I had informed him that I hunted it for him. The wording of the narration is: “I hunted it for you.” And the words stating that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not eat it are mentioned only by the narrator named Mu‘ammar (may Allah have mercy on him). All Muslims agree that this statement of Allah is a decisive verse: “O you who believe! Do not kill game while you are in the state of Ihram.”
Hadith 2750
ثنا ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا أَبُو الأَزْهَرِ ، وأَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ ، قَالا : نا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ اعْتَمَرَ مَعَ عُثْمَانَ فِي رَكْبٍ فَأُهْدِيَ لَهُ طَائِرٌ فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِأَكْلِهِ ، وَأَبَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ : أَنَأْكُلُ مِمَّا لَسْتَ مِنْهُ آكِلا ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ فِي ذَاكُمْ مِثْلَكُمْ ، إِنَّمَا اصْطِيدَ لِي وَأُمِيتَ بِاسْمِي " .
Yahya bin Abdur Rahman narrates from his father: He, along with some other people, performed ‘Umrah with Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). A bird was presented to Sayyiduna ‘Uthman, so he told the other people to eat it, but he himself refused to eat it. Sayyiduna ‘Amr bin al-‘As said to him: “Should we eat something which you are not eating?” Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: “My position regarding this is not like yours; it was hunted for me.”
