Hadith 2539
نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَاسِينَ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، نا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : نا إبْرَاهِيمُ الصَّائِغُ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " فِي الضَّبُعِ إِذَا أَصَابَهَا الْمُحْرِمُ جَزَاءُ كَبْشٍ مُسِنٍّ ، وَتُؤْكَلُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the monitor lizard: "When a person in the state of ihram kills it, then its expiation will be a sheep, and its meat will be eaten."
Hadith 2540
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي مَذْعُورٍ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ ، فَقَالَ : فِيهَا كَبْشٌ " ، فَقُلْتُ : " فَرِيضَةٌ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، كَذَا قَالَ : فَرِيضَةٌ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abu Ammar reports: We asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the lizard, so he said: One ram must be given. I asked: Is this obligatory? He replied: Yes, he said that it is obligatory.
Hadith 2541
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقِرْمِيسِينِيُّ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ ، نا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الضَّبُعُ صَيْدٌ " ، وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا كَبْشًا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The dhabb (spiny-tailed lizard) is game." (The narrator says) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed the expiation of a ram for it.
Hadith 2542
نا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الرُّخَامِيُّ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : " أَيُؤْكَلُ الضَّبُعُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " أَسَمِعْتَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abu Ammar reports about Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: I asked whether the lizard can be eaten? He replied: Yes! I asked: Is it considered game? He replied: Yes! I asked: Did you hear this from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him? He replied: Yes!
Hadith 2543
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ، نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، نا قَبِيصَةُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ ، فَقُلْتُ : صَيْدٌ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " آكُلُهَا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Ibn Abu Ammar narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the lizard: Is it considered game? He replied: Yes! I asked: Can it be eaten? He said: Yes! I inquired: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Yes!
Hadith 2544
نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا عَلانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ ، وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، وَجَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَهُمْ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ جَابِرًا " الضَّبُعِ ، قَالَ : آكُلُهَا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " ، قُلْتُ : " سَمِعْتَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abu Ammar narrates: He asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the lizard. He asked: Can it be eaten? Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Yes! He asked: Is it considered game? He replied: Yes! He asked: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Yes!
Hadith 2545
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ، نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، نا قَبِيصَةُ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ ، فَقَالَ : " هِيَ صَيْدٌ ، وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا إِذَا أَصَابَهَا الْمُحْرِمُ كَبْشًا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the lizard, so he (peace be upon him) said: "It is game." (The narrator says) If a person in the state of ihram kills it, then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has prescribed its expiation as the sacrifice of a sheep.
Hadith 2546
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ، نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، نا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنِ الأَجْلَحِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " فِي الضَّبُعِ إِذَا أَصَابَهُ الْمُحْرِمُ كَبْشٌ ، وَفِي الظَّبْيِ شَاةٌ ، وَفِي الأَرْنَبِ عَنَاقٌ ، وَفِي الْيَرْبُوعِ جَفْرَةٌ " . قَالَ : وَالْجَفْرَةُ الَّتِي قَدِ ارْتَعَتْ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Regarding the lizard, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If a person in the state of ihram kills it, he must give a sheep as expiation." And regarding the deer, he said: "A goat must be sacrificed." Regarding the rabbit, he said: "A kid goat must be sacrificed." And regarding the jerboa, he said: "For it, a young goat must be sacrificed." The narrator says: The word "jafrah" used in the hadith refers to a young animal that is able to walk.
Hadith 2547
نا نا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، نا هِشَامٌ ، نا مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " قَضَى فِي الضَّبُعِ بِكَبْشٍ " . كَذَا قَالَ لَنَا يَعْقُوبُ : قَضَى.
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): He gave the verdict of sacrificing a ram for hunting a monitor lizard. The narrator named Ya'qub has narrated these very words: He gave the verdict.
Hadith 2548
نا نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ، نا عَبَّادُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ، نا أَبُو مَلَكٍ الْجَنْبِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فِي حَمَامِ الْحَرَمِ ، " فِي الْحَمَامَةِ شَاةٌ ، وَفِي بَيْضَتَيْنِ دِرْهَمٌ ، وَفِي النَّعَامَةِ جَزُورٌ ، وَفِي الْبَقَرَةِ بَقَرَةٌ ، وَفِي الْحِمَارِ بَقَرَةٌ " .
The ruling of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the pigeons of the Haram is transmitted as follows: The expiation for killing a pigeon of the Haram will be a goat; the expiation for damaging its egg will be one dirham; for killing an ostrich, a camel must be sacrificed; for killing a cow, a cow must be sacrificed; and for killing a nilgai, a cow must be sacrificed.
Hadith 2549
نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، نا أَبُو مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الأَجْلَحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الظَّبْيِ شَاةً ، وَفِي الضَّبُعِ كَبْشًا ، وَفِي الأَرْنَبِ عَنَاقًا ، وَفِي الْيَرْبُوعِ جَفْرَةً " . فَقُلْتُ لابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ : وَمَا الْجَفْرَةُ ؟ قَالَ : الَّتِي قَدْ فُطِمَتْ وَرَعَتْ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this verdict regarding the deer: "A goat must be sacrificed." Regarding the monitor lizard, he gave the verdict of sacrificing a ram; regarding the rabbit, he gave the verdict of sacrificing a kid goat; and regarding the jerboa, he gave the verdict of sacrificing a kid goat. The narrator says: I asked Ibn Zubair: What is meant by the word "jafrah"? He replied: The young one whose milk has been weaned and who is able to walk.
Hadith 2550
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ، نا عَبَّادُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى فِي بَيْضِ نَعَامٍ أَصَابَهُ مُحْرِمٌ بِقَدْرِ ثَمَنِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates the statement of Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this ruling regarding the egg of an ostrich: "If a person in the state of ihram causes harm to it, then he must pay compensation according to its value."
Hadith 2551
وَنا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا سعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، نا موسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، نا إبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، بِهَذَا ، وَقَالَ : بِقِيمَتِهِ.
The same narration is transmitted with another chain, however, there is some verbal variation in it.
Hadith 2552
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الطَّيِّبِيُّ ، نا طَاهِرُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ نِزَارٍ ، نا أَبِي ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلا كَانَ مُحْرِمًا عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَأَتَى عَلَى أُدْحِيِّ نَعَامَةٍ ، فَأَصَابَ مِنْ بَيْضِهَا فَسَقَطَ فِي يَدَيْهِ ، فَأَفْتَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ بَنَاتِ مَخَاضٍ فَيَضْرِبُهُنَّ ، فَمَا أَنْتَجَ مِنْهُنَّ أَهْدَاهُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ وَمَا لَمْ يُنْتِجْ مِنْهُنَّ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُ ، لأَنَّ الْبِيضَ مِنْهُ مَا يَصْلُحُ وَمِنْهُ مَا يَفْسُدُ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَى الرَّجُلُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا أَفْتَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ قَالَ عَلِيُّ مَا قَالَ ، فَهَلْ لَكَ فِي الرُّخْصَةِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ فِي كُلِّ بَيْضَةِ نَعَامٍ إِطْعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ أَوْ صَوْمُ يَوْمٍ " .
Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates from an Ansari elder: A man was traveling on his mount in the state of ihram. He reached near an ostrich’s nest, took an egg from there, but it fell from his hand. So, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the ruling regarding this that he should buy she-camels that are ready to mate, let them mate, and then whatever offspring they give birth to, that man should offer those offspring as a gift to the House of Allah. And if those she-camels do not give birth to any offspring, even then the man’s expiation will be fulfilled, because sometimes a chick hatches from an egg and sometimes it does not. The narrator states: That man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about this, that Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) had given him this fatwa. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Ali has said what he had to say; do you want some concession?” He replied: “Yes.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “For each egg, the expiation will be to feed a poor person or to fast one day.”
Hadith 2553
نا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَدَائِنِيُّ ، نا شبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، نا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ هَجَرَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ .
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 2554
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ ، نا يَزِيدُ ، أنا ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
This same narration is transmitted from an Ansari companion with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 2555
وَنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ مَطَرٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَوْطَأَ بَعِيرُهُ أُدْحِيَّ نَعَامَةٍ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ ، فَأَتَى عَلِيًّا يَذْكُرُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : عَلَيْكَ فِي كُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ ضَرَبْتَ نَاقَةٌ أَوْ جَنِينُ نَاقَةٍ ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " قَدْ قَالَ عَلِيُّ فِيهَا مَا قَالَ ، وَلَكِنْ هَلُمَّ إِلَى الرُّخْصَةِ عَلَيْكَ فِي كُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ ، أَوْ إِطْعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates regarding Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): Once, a man placed an ostrich's nest under the feet of his camel; that man was in the state of Ihram. He came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned this matter before him. So he (Ali) said: In exchange for one egg, you will have to give a she-camel (for mating) or a calf that is in the womb of a she-camel. That man then went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this matter before him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ali has already said what was to be said about this, but why do you not incline towards concession? For each egg, it will be obligatory upon you to fast for one day or to feed one needy person."

نا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْمَحَامِلِيُّ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الأُمَوِيُّ ، نا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَوْطَأَ بَعِيرُهُ أُدْحِيَّ نَعَامَةٍ ، فَسَأَلَ عَلِيًّا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : عَلَيْكَ لِكُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ ضِرَابُ نَاقَةٍ ، أَوْ جَنِينُ نَاقَةٍ ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا قَالَ عَلِيُّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ ، فَقَالَ : " قَدْ قَالَ مَا سَمِعْتَ هَلُمَّ إِلَى الرُّخْصَةِ : عَلَيْكَ لِكُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ أَوْ إِطْعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ " .
Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates: A man broke an ostrich’s nest under the feet of his camel. He asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about this, so Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: For each egg, you must give a she-camel for mating or pay for the unborn calf in the she-camel’s womb. That man then went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about what Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had said to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You have heard what he said, so why do you not take the concession? For each egg, you must fast one day and feed one poor person.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، وَنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَيْرُوزٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، وَنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ ، نا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فِي بَيْضَةِ نَعَامٍ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ أَوْ إِطْعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ " .
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For the expiation of one ostrich egg, one must fast for one day or feed one needy person."
Hadith 2558
نا محَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، نا عبَّاسُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الأَزْهَرِ ، نا دحَيْمٌ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 2559
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، نا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، نا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ مَنْ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a ruling regarding an egg, which a man broke while in the state of ihram (the ruling of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was): "For one egg, one fast must be observed."
Hadith 2560
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ النَّسَائِيُّ ، نا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " فِي بَيْضَةِ نَعَامٍ كَسَرَهُ رَجُلٌ مُحْرِمٌ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ فِي كُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ " . قَالَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ : فِي بَيْضِ النَّعَامِ يُصِيبُهُ الْمُحْرِمُ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ.
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For the expiation of an ostrich egg that a person in the state of ihram breaks, he must fast one day for each egg." The narrator named Abu Khalid states: If a person in the state of ihram breaks an ostrich egg, he will fast one day.
Hadith 2561
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، نا أَبُو قُرَّةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " حَكَمَ فِي بَيْضِ النَّعَامِ كَسَرَهُ رَجُلٌ مُحْرِمٌ صِيَامَ يَوْمٍ لِكُلِّ بَيْضَةٍ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates regarding the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave a ruling about an ostrich egg (a person in the state of ihram had broken this egg, and the ruling was): "That person shall fast one day in compensation for the egg."
Hadith 2562
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَطِيرِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقُوهُسْتَانِيُّ ، نا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ غُرَابٍ ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَزِّمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فِي بَيْضِ النَّعَامِ يُصِيبُهُ الْمُحْرِمُ ثَمَنُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said about the ostrich egg: "If a person in the state of ihram breaks it, he will pay its price." About the egg, he said: "If a person in the state of ihram breaks it, he will pay its price."
Hadith 2563
نا نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا إبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ، ثنا عَفَّانُ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فِي قَوْمٍ أَصَابُوا ضَبُعًا ، قَالَ : " عَلَيْهِمْ كَبْشٌ يَتَخَارَجُونَهُ بَيْنَهُمْ " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): Once some people killed a lizard, so Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: A sacrifice of one ram will be obligatory upon all those people, which they will offer collectively.
Hadith 2564
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمَّارٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، أَنَّ مَوَالِيَ لابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَحْرَمُوا إِذْ مَرَّتْ بِهِمْ ضَبُعٌ فَجَذَفُوهَا بِعِصِيِّهِمْ فَأَصَابُوهَا ، فَوَقَعَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ ، فَأَتَوْا ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ " عَلَيْكُمْ كَبْشٌ " ، قَالُوا : عَلَى كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا كَبْشٌ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنَّكُمْ لَمُغَزَّزٌ بِكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعًا كُلُّكُمْ كَبْشٌ " . قَالَ : اللُّغَوِيُّونَ : قَوْلُهُ : إِنَّكُمْ لَمُغَزَّزٌ بِكُمْ : أَيْ لَمُشَدَّدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذًا.
Ammar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Some slaves of Ibn Zubair were in the state of Ihram. Once, a monitor lizard passed by them. They struck it with sticks and killed it. Then they became confused about this matter. They went to the service of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and mentioned this to him. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A sacrifice of a ram will be obligatory upon you. They asked: Will the sacrifice of a ram be obligatory upon each one of us? Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: You are being excessive upon yourselves; a sacrifice of one ram will be obligatory upon all of you. The experts of language have said: In the wording of the narration "lima'zarabikum," it means that in this case, you would be being excessive with yourselves.
