بَابُ الشَّهْرِ يَكُونُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ
Chapter on the month being twenty-nine days
Hadith 2350
قُرِئَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ : حَدَّثَكُمْ صَالِحُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ أَبِي الْمُسَاوِرِ ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : " لَقَدْ صُمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا صُمْنَا ثَلاثِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: “We have observed twenty-nine fasts with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (i.e., during his blessed era) more times than we have observed thirty fasts (i.e., sometimes the month of Ramadan is also twenty-nine days).”
Hadith 2351
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْوَرَّاقُ ، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، ثنا حَامِدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الثَّغْرِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قِيلَ لَهَا : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، أَيَكُونُ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : " مَا صُمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا صُمْتُ ثَلاثِينَ " . وَقَالَ أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ : ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَقَالَ أَيْضًا : مِمَّا صُمْتُ مَعَهُ ثَلاثِينَ . هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ صَحِيحٌ حَسَنٌ ، وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ غَيْرُ ثَابِتٍ ، لأَنَّ عَبْدَ الأَعْلَى بْنَ أَبِي الْمُسَاوِرِ مَتْرُوكٌ.
It is narrated about Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): She was asked, "O Mother of the Believers! Can the month of Ramadan be twenty-nine days?" She replied, "I have observed twenty-nine fasts with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more times than I have observed thirty fasts." In another narration, these words are mentioned: "As many times as I have observed thirty fasts with him." Its chain of narration is Hasan Sahih, and the previous narration is not established, because its narrator, Abdul A'la bin Abul Mas, is abandoned.
Hadith 2352
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُعَدَّلُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بِوَاسِطَ ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، ثنا الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " مَا صُمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا صُمْنَا ثَلاثِينَ " . الْمِسْوَرُ ضَعِيفٌ.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "We have observed twenty-nine fasts with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) more times than we have observed thirty fasts." The narrator of this narration, Miswar, is weak.
