بَابُ الصَّائِمِ يَتَقَيَّأُ
Chapter on the fasting person who vomits
Hadith 2272
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ ، ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ السِّمْسَارُ ، ثنا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ السَّكَنِ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، ثنا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، ثنا عُبَادَةُ بْنُ نَسِيٍّ ، وَهُبَيْرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالا : نا أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيُّ ، ثنا ثَوْبَانُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَائِمًا رَمَضَانَ ، فَأَصَابَهُ غَمٌّ آذَاهُ فَتَقَيَّأَ فَقَاءَ ، فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ أَفْطَرَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَرِيضَةٌ الْوُضُوءُ مِنَ الْقَيْءِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَوْ كَانَ فَرِيضَةً لَوَجَدْتَهُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ " ، قَالَ : صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْغَدَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ ، يَقُولُ : " هَذَا مَكَانُ إِفْطَارِي أَمْسِ " . عُتْبَةُ بْنُ السَّكَنِ ، مَتْرُوكُ الْحَدِيثِ.
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was observing a fast, and this was not one of the Ramadan fasts. He experienced some discomfort, which became distressing for him, and then he vomited. After that, he asked for water to perform ablution, performed ablution, and broke his fast. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Is it obligatory to perform ablution after vomiting? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "If it were obligatory, you would have found it in the Qur'an." The narrator states: After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted the next day, and I heard him say: "This is in compensation for the fast I broke yesterday." The narrator of this narration, Utbah bin Sakan, is abandoned in hadith.
Hadith 2273
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُقَيْرٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ . ح وَثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، نا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنِ اسْتَقَاءَ عَامِدًا فَعَلَيْهِ الْقَضَاءُ ، وَمَنْ ذَرَعَهُ الْقَيْءُ فَلا قَضَاءَ عَلَيْهِ " . رُوَاتُهُ ثِقَاتٌ كُلُّهُمْ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever vomits deliberately, then making up (the fast) is obligatory upon him, and whoever is overcome by vomiting, then making up (the fast) is not obligatory upon him." All the narrators of this narration are trustworthy.
Hadith 2274
ثنا ابْنُ مِرْدَاسٍ ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ يُونُسَ بِهَذَا.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 2275
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُرْشِدٍ ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا ذَرَعَ الصَّائِمَ الْقَيْءُ فَلا فِطْرَ عَلَيْهِ وَلا قَضَاءَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَإِذَا تَقَيَّأَ فَعَلَيْهِ الْقَضَاءُ " . عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ لَيْسَ بِقَوِيٍّ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When a fasting person vomits a mouthful involuntarily, breaking the fast is not obligatory upon him, nor is making up the fast obligatory upon him. But if he vomits deliberately, then making up the fast is obligatory upon him." The narrator of this narration, Yahya bin Sa'id, is not reliable.
Hadith 2276
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَكِيلُ أَبِي صَخْرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ دَلُّوَيْهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ مَنْدَلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ ذَرَعَهُ الْقَيْءُ فَلْيُتِمَّ عَلَى صَوْمِهِ وَلا قَضَاءَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَمَنْ قَاءَ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَقْضِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever vomits involuntarily with a mouthful, let him complete his fast; there is no making up (qada) upon him. And whoever vomits deliberately, let him make up (the fast)."
