Chapter on the fasting person who vomits
Hadith 2258
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جُنَادٍ ، نا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، نا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، نا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ ، حَدَّثَهُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَعْدَانُ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ " ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ ، قَالَ : " صَدَقَ ، أَنَا صَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ وُضُوءَهُ " . قِيلَ : مَعْدَانُ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، وَقِيلَ : مَعْدَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited, so he broke his fast. The narrator states: Later, I met Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), in the Grand Mosque of Damascus, so I told him: Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) has told me this, that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and he broke his fast. Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) said: He has spoken the truth, I made ablution for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). According to one narration, the name of one of the narrators is Ma’dan bin Abu Talhah, and according to another narration, it is Ma’dan bin Talhah.
Hadith 2259
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، ثنا أبِي ، ثنا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، وَآخَرُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْزُوقٍ ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : أَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَائِمًا فَقَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ ، فَسُئِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي قِئْتُ " .
Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting, and he vomited, so he broke his fast. He was asked about this, and he (peace be upon him) said: "I vomited."
