Hadith 1995
Sayyiduna Qabisah bin Mukhariq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him for help regarding a debt of guarantee (hamalah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stay with us, and either we will give you something for the hamalah, or we will help you otherwise. Remember this: asking (begging) is not permissible for anyone except for three types of people: One is the person who has to pay off a debt on behalf of others, and then he asks someone for help; when he pays off that debt, he should not take anything more. The second is the person whose (produce or wealth) is struck by a calamity and it destroys his wealth; such a person may ask until he has enough to fulfill his needs (here the narrator is doubtful about a word), then after that he should stop. The third is the person who is afflicted by severe need, until three sensible (here the narrator is doubtful) people from his own tribe testify that now it is permissible for this person to ask (so only these people may ask). Other than this, asking is forbidden, and whoever takes (wealth) in this way will consume it as something unlawful. O Qabisah!"
Hadith 1996
Sayyiduna Qabisah bin Mukhariq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I had a payment to make, so I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to seek help from him regarding it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "We will make the payment on your behalf and will take it out from the camels of charity." (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said) "When the camels of charity arrive." Then he said: "O Qabisah! Asking (for charity) is forbidden, except for three people: One is the person who has a payment to make; for him, asking is permissible until he pays off the debt, and then he should stop. The second is the person who is afflicted with severe need and hunger, until three wise men from his people testify (here the narrator is in doubt, perhaps the word is) and state that he has been afflicted with such hunger and need; for such a person, asking is also permissible until he becomes capable of fulfilling his needs. And the third is the person who is struck by a calamity that destroys his wealth; for such a person, asking is also permissible until he becomes capable of fulfilling his needs, and then he should stop. Anything taken by asking beyond this is unlawful."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible for a wealthy person to ask for anything, except in the case of five people: one who is appointed to collect zakat, one who participates in jihad in the way of Allah and is a worshipper, one who has to repay a debt, one who has bought something from his wealth, and one poor person to whom charity has been given and then he gives it as a gift to a wealthy person."
