Hadith 1960
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْبَاقِي بْنُ قَانِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالا : نا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الصَّوَّافُ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلانَ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَزِيعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ فِي مَالِ الْمُكَاتَبِ زَكَاةٌ حَتَّى يُعْتَقَ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Zakat is not obligatory on the wealth of a mukatab slave until he becomes free."
Hadith 1961
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، ثنا جَابِرُ بْنُ الْكُرْدِيِّ ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتِ امْرَأَتَانِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِمَا أَسْوِرَةٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيَسُرُّكُمَا أَنْ يُسَوِّرَكُمَا اللَّهُ بِأَسْوِرَةٍ مِنْ نَارٍ ؟ " ، قَالا : لا ، قَالَ : " فَأَدِّيَا حَقَّ هَذَا " . وَقَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : عَلَيْهِمَا سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، وَقَالَ أَيْضًا : فَأَدِّيَا حَقَّ هَذَا عَلَيْكُمَا ، يَعْنِي الزَّكَاةَ ، حَجَّاجٌ هُوَ ابْنُ أَرْطَأَةَ لا يُحْتَجُّ بِهِ.
Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, from his grandfather: Two women from Yemen came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and they were wearing gold bangles. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked both of them: "Would you like that Allah makes you wear bangles of fire?" They replied: "No!" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Then pay its due." In another narration, these words are mentioned: They were wearing gold bangles, and it also contains these words: (The Prophet, peace be upon him, said): "Then pay its due, which is obligatory upon you." (The narrator says): By this, zakat was meant. The narrator of this narration, Hajjaj, is Hajjaj bin Arta'ah, and he is not reliable.
Hadith 1962
وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّوَّافُ ، ثنا حَامِدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، ثنا سُرَيْجٌ ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ لامْرَأَتِي حُلِيًّا مِنْ عِشْرِينَ مِثْقَالا ، قَالَ : " فَأَدِّي زَكَاتَهُ نِصْفَ مِثْقَالٍ " . يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ مَتْرُوكٌ ، وَهَذَا وَهْمٌ وَالصَّوَابُ مُرْسَلٌ مَوْقُوفٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "My wife has twenty mithqal of jewelry." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should pay half a mithqal as zakat on them." One of the narrators of this narration, Yahya bin Abu Anisah, is abandoned, and this narration is mistaken; the correct version is: this narration is mursal and mawquf.
Hadith 1963
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ سَأَلَتْهُ عَنْ طَوْقٍ لَهَا فِيهِ عِشْرُونَ مِثْقَالا مِنَ الذَّهَبِ ، فَقَالَتْ : أُزَكِّيهِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَتْ : كَمْ ؟ قَالَ : خَمْسَةُ دَرَاهِمَ ، قَالَتْ : أُعْطِيَهَا فُلانًا ؟ ابْنُ أَخٍ لَهَا يَتِيمٌ فِي حِجْرِهَا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِنْ شِئْتِ " .
Ibrahim al-Nakha'i narrates: The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him about her necklace, which was of twenty mithqal and made of gold. The woman asked: "Should I pay zakat on it?" Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Yes!" The woman asked: "How much?" So Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "Five dirhams." The woman asked: "Can I give it to such-and-such person?" She was asking about her nephew, who was an orphan and under her care, so Abdullah said: "If you wish, you may do so."
Hadith 1964
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، ثنا يَحْيَى ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، ثنا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ لامْرَأَةِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ حُلِيُّ ، فَقَالَتْ لابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ : أُعْطِي زَكَاتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَتْ : أُعْطِي ابْنَ أَخِي يَتِيمًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
Ibrahim Nakha'i narrates: The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) had some jewelry. The woman asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "Should I pay zakat on it?" He replied: "Yes!" The woman asked: "Can I give it to my orphaned nephew?" He said: "Yes!"
Hadith 1965
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ عَنِ الْحُلِيِّ ، فَقَالَ : " لَيْسَ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ " .
Ali bin Saleem reports: I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) about jewelry, and he said: "Zakat is not obligatory on it."
Hadith 1966
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ بَنَاتِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ تُصْدَقُ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ، فَتَجْعَلُ لَهَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ حُلِيًّا بِأَرْبَعِمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ ، وَلا يُرَى فِيهِ صَدَقَةٌ " .
Nafi' reports: One of the daughters of Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was given one thousand dirhams, and she had jewelry made from it, which amounted to four hundred dinars, but according to Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), zakat was not obligatory on it.
Hadith 1967
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، ثنا أَبُو الأَزْهَرِ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " لا زَكَاةَ فِي الْحُلِيِّ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Zakat is not obligatory on jewelry."
Hadith 1968
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، ثنا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُحَلِّي بَنَاتَهُ بِأَرْبَعِمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ ، وَلا يُخْرِجُ زَكَاتَهُ " .
Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) had jewelry made worth four hundred dinars for his daughters, but Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not pay zakat on them.
Hadith 1969
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ " أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُحَلِّي بَنَاتِهَا بِالذَّهَبِ ، وَلا تُزَكِّيهِ نَحْوًا مِنْ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفًا " .
It is narrated about Sayyida Asma bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her): She had gold jewelry made for her daughters and did not pay zakat on them; the value of this jewelry was close to fifty thousand.
