بَابُ مَا يَجِبُ فِيهِ الزَّكَاةِ مِنَ الْحَبِّ
Chapter on what grains require zakat
Hadith 1905
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نُوحٍ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، ثنا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَطَّافٍ ، ثنا الْعَرْزَمِيُّ ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنِ الْجَوْهَرِ ، وَالدُّرِّ ، وَالْفُصُوصِ ، وَالْخَرَزِ ، وَعَنْ نَبَاتِ الأَرْضِ ، الْبَقْلِ ، وَالْقِثَّاءِ ، وَالْخِيَارِ ، فَقَالَ " لَيْسَ فِي الْحَجَرِ زَكَاةٌ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي الْبُقُولِ زَكَاةٌ ، إِنَّمَا سَنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحِنْطَةِ وَالشَّعِيرِ ، وَالتَّمْرِ وَالزَّبِيبِ " .
Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father: It was asked from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr about jewels, pearls, precious stones, small pearls (or Abyssinian pearls), and about plants that grow from the earth such as gems, pearls, stones, silk, vegetables, greens, cucumbers, etc. that grow from the earth. He replied: "There is no zakat obligatory on any stone, nor is zakat obligatory on vegetables. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) has made (the payment of) 'ushr obligatory only on wheat, barley, dates, and grapes."
Hadith 1906
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ ، أَنَّ دَاوُدَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْمُسَيَّبِيَّ ، حَدَّثَهُمْ فِي سَنَةِ سِتٍّ وَعِشْرِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : نا حَمَدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالا : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا صَدَقَةَ فِي الزَّرْعِ ، وَلا فِي الْكَرْمِ ، وَلا فِي النَّخْلِ ، إِلا إِذَا بَلَغَ خَمْسَةَ أَوْسُقٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), both narrate: Payment of zakat is not obligatory on crops, dates, and date palms until it reaches five wasq.
