بَابُ الِالْتِفَاتِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ بِعُذْرٍ
Chapter on turning in prayer due to an excuse
Hadith 1864
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الأَشْعَثِ ، ثنا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلاتِهِ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالا وَلا يَلْوِي عُنُقَهُ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ " . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ ، مُتَّصِلا ، وَأَرْسَلَهُ غَيْرُهُ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to look to the right and to the left during prayer, but he would not turn his neck to look behind his back. In narrating this as a connected (muttasil) narration, the narrator named Fadl bin Musa is unique. Other narrators have transmitted it as a mursal narration.
Hadith 1865
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَسَّانِيُّ ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ عِكْرِمَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلْحَظُ فِي الصَّلاةِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ تَلَوَّى عُنُقُهُ " .
Abdullah bin Saeed narrates through his chain of transmission: The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) used to glance here and there during prayer without turning his neck.
