بَابُ الرَّجُلِ يُغْمَى عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ جَاءَ وَقْتُ الصَّلَاةِ هَلْ يَقْضِي أَمْ لَا
Chapter on a man who faints and the prayer time comes—does he need to make it up or not?
Hadith 1859
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى عَمَّارٍ " أَنَّ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ ، فَأَفَاقَ نِصْفَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ " .
The slave of Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him), Yazid, narrates: Once Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) fell unconscious, and this state continued from the time of Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. When he regained consciousness at midnight, he performed the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، ثنا خَارِجَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، ثنا أَبُو عُمَرَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الأَيْلِيِّ ، أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُغْمَى عَلَيْهِ فَيَتْرُكَ الصَّلاةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَضَاءٌ ، إِلا أَنْ يُغْمَى عَلَيْهِ فِي وَقْتِ صَلاةٍ ، فَيَفِيقُ وَهُوَ فِي وَقْتِهَا فَيُصَلِّيهَا " . لَفْظُهُمَا وَاحِدٌ إِلا أَنَّ خَارِجَةَ ، قَالَ : عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a person who becomes unconscious and misses the prayer. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no making up (qada) required for such a person. Qada becomes necessary when a person becomes unconscious during the time of a prayer and then regains consciousness within that same time; then that person should perform that prayer." The wording of both narrators of this narration is the same, although there is some difference in the chain of transmission.
Hadith 1861
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا دَعْلَجٌ ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، ثنا حَبَّانُ ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّهُ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً فَلَمْ يَقْضِ " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that once he remained unconscious for a day and a night, and he did not make up the prayers missed during that period.
Hadith 1862
وَعَنْ وَعَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ " أَنَّهُ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ يَوْمَيْنِ فَلَمْ يَقْضِهِ " .
It is narrated through another chain: On one occasion, Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) remained unconscious for more than two days, and he did not make up the prayers missed during that period.
Hadith 1863
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّافِعِيُّ ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، ثنا مُسْلِمٌ ، ثنا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ " أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيهِنَّ فَلَمْ يَقْضِ " .
Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) once remained unconscious for three days and three nights, and during this period he did not make up (the missed prayers) as qada.
