Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had been wounded. He said: "Amir al-Mu'minin! The time for prayer has come." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "There is no place in Islam for a person who does not perform the prayer." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) performed the prayer, even though blood was flowing from his wound at that time.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), there was a man whose worship and devotion we greatly admired. We mentioned this man to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we mentioned his name before you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not recognize him. When we described his appearance, you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) still did not recognize him. While we were still talking about this man, he appeared before us. We said: This is the man. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You are telling me about a man on whose face is the mark of Satan." Then that man came forward and stood among those people; he did not offer greetings (salam). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "I ask you by Allah's name, when you came and stood by this gathering, did you think at that moment that among those present, there is no one more virtuous or better than me?" The man replied: "Allah knows, it is so." Then the man began to pray. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: "Who will kill him?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr said: "I will!" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to him, but he was praying. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) thought: "SubhanAllah! Should I kill a man who is praying, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has forbidden the killing of those who pray?" Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came out. (After this, the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.)

So it was ordered regarding him that he should be expelled from Madinah and sent to a place called Naqi‘. It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not kill him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been forbidden from killing those who pray." In another narration, these words are mentioned: A eunuch was brought who had applied henna to both his hands and both his feet.
