الْوِتْرُ ثَلَاثٌ كَثَلَاثِ الْمَغْرِبِ
Witr is three like the three of Maghrib
Hadith 1653
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ رَشِيقٍ بِمِصْرَ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الدُّولابِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو خَالِدٍ يَزِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْكُوفِيُّ ، ثنا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ النَّخَعِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وِتْرُ اللَّيْلِ ثَلاثٌ كَوِتْرِ النَّهَارِ صَلاةُ الْمَغْرِبِ " . يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ، هَذَا يُقَالُ لَهُ : ابْنُ أَبِي الْحَوَاجِبِ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَلَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ مَرْفُوعًا غَيْرُهُ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The witr of the night is three, just as the witr of the day (i.e., the Maghrib prayer) is three rak'ahs." The narrator who transmitted this narration, Yahya bin Zakariya, is called Ibn Abu al-Hawaj, and he is weak; only he has transmitted it from A'mash.
Hadith 1654
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer Witr on his mount.
Hadith 1655
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، ثنا يُونُسُ ، أنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَمَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، قَالَ : نزلت فَأَوْتَرْتُ ، فَقَالَ لِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ : أَلَيْسَ لَكَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَى الْبَعِيرِ " .
Saeed bin Yasar narrates: I dismounted from my ride to perform Witr, so Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to me: "Is the example of Allah's Messenger not sufficient for you?" I replied: "Yes, indeed!" Then he said: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform Witr while on his mount."
