بَابُ جَوَازِ النَّافِلَةِ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ فِي جَمِيعِ الْأَزْمَانِ
Chapter on the permissibility of voluntary prayer at home at all times
Hadith 1566
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَابَاهُ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، إِنْ وُلِّيتُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الأَمْرِ شَيْئًا فَلا تَمْنَعُنَّ طَائِفًا طَافَ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ وَصَلَّى أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O Banu Abd Manaf, if you become the custodians of this task, then never prevent anyone from performing Tawaf of the House of Allah and offering prayer therein, at any time of the day or night.”
Hadith 1567
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ بُهْلُولٍ ، ثنا جَدِّي ، ثنا أبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ جُبَيْرَ بْنَ مُطْعِمٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ - أَوْ يَا بَنِي قُصَيٍّ - لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا أَنْ يَطُوفَ أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "O Banu Abd Manaf (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps the words are: O descendants of Qusay), do not prevent anyone from performing Tawaf of the House of Allah and offering prayer here, whether it is any part of the night or day."
Hadith 1568
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الرَّهَاوِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، ثنا مَعْقِلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، أَلا لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا صَلَّى عِنْدَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Banu Abd Manaf, beware! Do not prevent anyone from performing prayer at this House of Allah, regardless of whether it is day or night."
Hadith 1569
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّبَالِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، وَأَظُنُّهُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا يَطُوفُ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ أَيَّةَ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ ".
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Banu Abd Manaf, do not prevent anyone from performing Tawaf of this House of Allah, whether it is night or day."
Hadith 1570
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو طَالِبٍ الْحَافِظُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الأَعْمَى بِحَرَّانَ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا يُصَلِّي عِنْدَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ أَيَّ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Nafi' bin Jubair narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "O Banu Abd Manaf, do not prevent anyone who is praying near this House of Allah, regardless of whether it is day or night."
Hadith 1571
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ الْحُرِّ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الشَّافِعِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَفْرَاءَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ مَكَّةَ فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ عَرَفَنِي فَقَدْ عَرَفَنِي ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْنِي فَأَنَا جُنْدُبٌ أَبُو ذَرٍّ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لا صَلاةَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَلا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ، إِلا بِمَكَّةَ ، إِلا بِمَكَّةَ ، إِلا بِمَكَّةَ " .
Mujahid narrates: When Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Makkah Mukarramah, he held the doorframe of the Ka'bah and said: "Whoever knows me, knows me, but whoever does not know me (should know that) I am Jundub (and my kunyah is) Abu Dharr." I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "No (optional) prayer can be performed after the Fajr prayer until the sun rises, and no (optional) prayer can be performed after the 'Asr prayer until the sun sets, except that the ruling of Makkah is different, except that the ruling of Makkah is different, except that the ruling of Makkah is different."
Hadith 1572
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ السَّمِيعِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي مَسِيرَةَ ، ثنا خَلادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعُ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جُبَيْرًا ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، لا تَمْنَعُنَّ مُصَلِّيًا عِنْدَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ فِي سَاعَةٍ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jubair bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "O Banu Abd al-Muttalib, do not prevent anyone from praying at this House of Allah, at any time of the night or day."
Hadith 1573
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ الْبَرْدَعِيُّ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، يَا بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، إِنْ وُلِّيتُمْ هَذَا الأَمْرَ يَوْمًا فَلا تَمْنَعُنَّ طَائِفًا بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ أَوْ مُصَلِّيًا أَيَّ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ " .
Nafi' bin Jubair narrates from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "O Banu Abd Manaf, O Banu Hashim, when this matter is in your control, never prevent any person performing tawaf of this House, nor any person performing prayer (there), from doing so—whether it is night or day, at any time."
Hadith 1574
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا كُرْدُوسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا طَافَ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ لَيْلا أَوْ نَهَارًا " .
The same narration is transmitted with another chain, however, in it are these words: "Do not prevent anyone who performs Tawaf of this House of Allah at any time of the night or day."
Hadith 1575
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شَاكِرٍ ، ثنا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الْعَدَنِيُّ ، ثنا رَجَاءٌ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، ثنا مُجَاهِدٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، أَوْ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ ، لا تَمْنَعُوا أَحَدًا يَطُوفُ ، فَإِنَّهُ لا صَلاةَ بَعْدَ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَلا صَلاةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ، إِلا بِمَكَّةَ عِنْدَ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ يَطُوفُونَ وَيُصَلُّونَ " .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Banu Abdul Muttalib (the narrator is unsure, perhaps the words are: O Banu Abd Manaf), do not prevent anyone performing tawaf of this House (or praying near it), for after the Fajr prayer until the sun rises, and after the Asr prayer until the sun sets, there is no (prescribed) prayer. However, in Makkah, the ruling near this House is different; here, people may perform tawaf and pray (even) during these times."
