بَابُ ذِكْرِ نِيَابِةِ الْإِمَامِ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْمَأْمُومِينَ
Chapter on the imam substituting for the recitation of the followers
Hadith 1501
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ التِّرْمِذِيُّ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى خَلْفَ الإِمَامِ فَقِرَاءَةُ الإِمَامُ لَهُ قِرَاءَةٌ " . هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ ، وَسَهْلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَتْرُوكٌ.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs prayer behind the Imam, the recitation of the Imam will be considered as his recitation." This narration is munkar; its narrator Sahl bin Abbas is abandoned.
Hadith 1502
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَيَّارٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدَانَ ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَلَّى خَلْفَ الإِمَامِ فَإِنَّ قِرَاءَةَ الإِمَامِ لَهُ قِرَاءَةٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ : رَفْعُهُ وَهْمٌ ، وَالصَّوَابُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ أَيْضًا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs prayer behind the Imam, the recitation of the Imam is considered as his recitation." Abu al-Hasan has transmitted this as a marfu' (attributed to the Prophet) hadith, and this is an error.
Hadith 1503
مَا ثنا بِهِ مَا ثنا بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ ظبْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، ثنا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، وَأَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّهُمَا حُدِّثَا عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ خَلْفَ الإِمَامِ : " تَكْفِيكَ قِرَاءَةُ الإِمَامِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding reciting behind the Imam says: "The recitation of the Imam is sufficient for you."
Hadith 1504
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الرَّازِيُّ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ إِمَامٌ فَقِرَاءَةُ الإِمَامِ لَهُ قِرَاءَةٌ " . لا يَصِحُّ هَذَا عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الرَّازِيُّ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has an imam, then the recitation of the imam is considered his recitation." This narration is not authentic; among its narrators, Muhammad bin ‘Abbad Razi is alone in transmitting it, and he is weak.
Hadith 1505
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَامِدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُجَالِدِ ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ ، يَقُولُ : " سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَفِي كُلِّ صَلاةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ " . فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ : وَجَبَتْ ، فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ ، وَكُنْتُ أَقْرَبَ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : يَا كَثِيرُ ، مَا أَرَى الإِمَامَ إِذَا أَمَّ الْقَوْمَ إِلا وَقَدْ كَفَاهُمْ.
Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), “Will recitation (of Qur’an) be done in every prayer?” He (peace be upon him) replied, “Yes.” A man from among the Ansar said, “It has become obligatory.” The narrator states: Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ turned towards me—since I was sitting closest to him among those present—and said, “O Kathir! I think that when a person is leading people in prayer, his recitation is sufficient for those people.”
