بَابُ صِفَةِ صَلَاةِ التَّطَوُّعِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَاسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ عِنْدَ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ
Chapter on the description of voluntary prayer during travel and facing the Qiblah when praying on a mount
Hadith 1476
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ أَبِي حَيَّةَ ، نا أبِي ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ، ثنا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ الْهُذَلِيُّ ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْجَارُودُ بْنُ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَطَوَّعَ لِلصَّلاةِ اسْتَقْبَلَ بِنَاقَتِهِ الْقِبْلَةَ فَكَبَّرَ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was traveling and intended to offer a voluntary prayer, he would turn his camel in the direction of the Qiblah and then say the takbir (begin the prayer).
Hadith 1477
ثنا أَبُو حَامِدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، ثنا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ الْجَارُودِ بْنِ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَكَبَّرَ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى حَيْثُ وَجَّهَتْ بِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a state of travel and intended to offer a voluntary prayer, he would face the Qiblah and then say the Takbir. After that, regardless of which direction the mount turned, he would continue to perform the prayer.
Hadith 1478
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِرْدَاسٍ ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجَارُودِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْجَارُودُ بْنُ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَطَوَّعَ اسْتَقْبَلَ بِنَاقَتِهِ الْقِبْلَةَ فَكَبَّرَ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى حَيْثُ وَجَّهَتْ بِهِ رِكَابُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a state of travel and intended to offer a voluntary prayer, he would turn his camel in the direction of the Qiblah, then say the takbir, and after that begin to perform the prayer, even if afterwards his mount faced any other direction.
Hadith 1479
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِحَاجَةٍ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيَّ شَيْئًا ، وَيَسْجُدُ فَتَنَحَّيْتُ عَنْهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي : " مَا صَنَعْتَ فِي حَاجَتِكَ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : صَنَعْتُ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ إِلا أَنِّي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me for some task. When I returned, you were on your mount at that time. I greeted you with salam, but you did not reply to me. Then I saw you indicating rukū‘ and sujūd (bowing and prostrating) with gestures, so I stood aside. Then you said to me: "What did you do about your task?" I replied: I have done such and such. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not reply to your salam because I was performing prayer."
