بَابُ قَدْرِ الْمَسَافِةِ الَّتِي تُقْصَرُ فِي مِثْلِهَا صَلَاةٌ وَقَدْرِ الْمُدَّةِ
Chapter on the distance in which prayer is shortened and the duration
Hadith 1447
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَعَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَا أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ ، لا تَقْصُرُوا الصَّلاةَ فِي أَدْنَى مِنْ أَرْبَعَةِ بُرُدٍ مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى عُسْفَانَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people of Makkah! Do not shorten the prayer for a journey less than four barid, which is the distance from Makkah to Usfan."
Hadith 1448
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ ، قَالا : ثنا لُوَيْنٌ ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، وَحُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَقَامَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ يَقْصُرُ الصَّلاةَ " . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : وَنَحْنُ إِذَا سَافَرْنَا فَأَقَمْنَا سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ قَصَرْنَا ، وَإِذَا زِدْنَا أَتْمَمْنَا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once we traveled with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) stayed for seventeen days, during which he continued to shorten the prayers. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When we are travelers and stay for thirteen days, we shorten the prayers; if we stay longer than that, we offer the full prayers.
Hadith 1449
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَقَمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ نَقْصُرُ الصَّلاةَ " . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : وَنَحْنُ نَقْصُرُ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ ، فَإِنْ زِدْنَا أَتْمَمْنَا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We stayed at a place for seventeen days during a journey with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and during that time we performed shortened prayers (qasr). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: We will perform shortened prayers for seventeen days; if we stay longer than that, then we will perform the full prayer.
