بَابُ وُجُوبِ وَضْعِ الْجَبْهَةِ وَالْأَنْفِ
Chapter on the obligation of placing the forehead and nose (on the ground)
Hadith 1317
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُهْتَدِي ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ خَلَفِ اللَّهِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقُرَشِيُّ بِدِمَشْقَ ، قَالا : نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا نَاشِبُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، ثنا مُقَاتِلُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَبْصَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ أَهْلِهِ تُصَلِّي وَلا تَضَعُ أَنْفَهَا بِالأَرْضِ ، قَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ ؟ ضَعِي أَنْفَكَ بِالأَرْضِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَضَعْ أَنْفَهُ بِالأَرْضِ مَعَ جَبْهَتِهِ فِي الصَّلاةِ " . نَاشِبٌ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَلا يَصِحُّ مُقَاتِلٌ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw one of his wives performing prayer, and she was not placing her nose on the ground. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O woman! Place your nose on the ground. The prayer of the one who does not place his nose and forehead on the ground during prayer is not valid." The narrator of this narration, Nasib, is weak, and this narration is not authentic regarding the transmission of Muqatil from Urwah.
Hadith 1318
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الأَشْعَثِ ، ثنا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الأَحْوَلِ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَضَعْ أَنْفَهُ عَلِي الأَرْضِ " . وَرَوَاهُ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، مُرْسَلا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The prayer of that person is not valid who does not place his nose on the ground." Other narrators have transmitted this as a mursal hadith.
Hadith 1319
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، ثنا الْجَرَّاحُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، ثنا عَاصِمٌ الأَحْوَلُ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَرَأَى رَجُلا يُصَلِّي مَا يُصِيبُ أَنْفُهُ مِنَ الأَرْضِ ، فَقَالَ : " لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لا يُصِيبُ أَنْفُهُ مِنَ الأَرْضِ مَا يُصِيبُ الْجَبِينُ " . قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ : لَمْ يُسْنِدْهُ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، وَشُعْبَةَ إِلا أَبُو قُتَيْبَةَ ، وَالصَّوَابُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، مُرْسَلا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man performing prayer who was not placing his nose on the ground. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer of that person is not valid who does not place his nose on the ground when he places his forehead on the ground." This narration is also transmitted as mursal with another chain.
Hadith 1320
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَزَّازُ ، َجَمَاعَةٌ ، قَالُوا : ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِوَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ : يَا أَبَا نُعَيْمٍ ، مَا لَكَ لا تُمَكِّنُ جَبْهَتَكَ وَأَنْفَكَ مِنَ الأَرْضِ ؟ قَالَ : ذَلِكَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ بِأَعْلَى جَبْهَتِهِ عَلَى قِصَاصِ الشَّعْرِ " . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ وَهْبٍ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ.
Abdul Aziz narrates: I said to Wahb, "O Abu Nu'aym! Why do you not place your forehead and nose on the ground during prayer?" He replied: I heard Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he performed prostration on the upper part of the forehead, that is, where the hairline begins. In narrating this report, the narrator named Abdul Aziz is unique, and it is not authentic.
