بَابُ صِفَةِ مَا يَقُولُ الْمُصَلِّي عِنْدَ رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ
Chapter on what the worshipper says during bowing and prostration
Hadith 1292
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِمْلاءً ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ صِلَةَ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، ثَلاثًا ، وَفِي سُجُودِهِ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّي الأَعْلَى وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، ثَلاثًا " .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite "Subhana Rabbiyal 'Azim wa bihamdih" three times in bowing (ruku'), and "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" three times in prostration (sujud).
Hadith 1293
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رُمَيْسٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ الأَحْمَسِيُّ ، ثنا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثنا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : " مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّي الْعَظِيمِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ ، وَفِي سُجُودِهِ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى وَبِحَمْدِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: It is Sunnah that a person recites "Subhana Rabbiyal 'Azim wa bihamdih" in bowing (ruku') and "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la wa bihamdih" in prostration (sajdah).
Hadith 1294
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَجَدَ فِي الصَّلاةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ سَجَدْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ ، أَنْتَ رَبِّي سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلْقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ ، تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ " ، وَكَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ رَكَعْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ أَنْتَ رَبِّي خَشَعَ لَكَ سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي وَمُخِّي وَعِظَامِي وَمَا اسْتَقَلَّتْ بِهِ قَدَمَيَّ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ " ، وَكَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ فِي الصَّلاةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ ، قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمِلْءَ الأَرْضِ وَمِلْءَ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ " . هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into prostration during obligatory prayer, he would recite: "O Allah! I have prostrated for You, I have believed in You, and I have submitted to You. You are my Lord. My face is prostrated before the One who created it, shaped it, and granted it hearing and sight. So blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators." When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into bowing (ruku'), he would recite: "O Allah! I have bowed for You alone, I have believed in You, I have submitted to You. You are my Lord. My hearing, my sight, my brain, my bones, my entire being is humbled before Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from bowing during obligatory prayer, he would recite: "O Allah, O our Lord! All praise is exclusively for You, praise that fills the heavens, fills the earth, and fills whatever else You will." The chain of this narration is authentic and good.
Hadith 1295
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ ، ثنا أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ ، ثنا رَوْحٌ ، ثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ . أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ قَالَ مثل قَوْلِ حَجَّاجٍ فِي الرُّكُوعِ خَاصَّةً دُونَ غَيْرِهِ ، وَزَادَ رَوْحٌ : " وَعَظْمِي وَعَصَبِي ".
It is narrated through another chain of transmission, in which these words are mentioned: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into bowing (ruku‘), in this narration specifically the act of bowing is mentioned, and other things are not mentioned. In another narration, these words are mentioned: My bones and my tendons.
Hadith 1296
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ ، نا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا رَكَعَ : " سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ " ، ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ .
Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would go into bowing (ruku'), he would recite "Subhana Rabbiyal 'Azim" three times.
Hadith 1297
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَقْرَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : " سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ " ، ثَلاثًا .
Ubaydullah bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father: I remember this about the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) used to recite "Subhana Rabbiyal Azim" three times in bowing (ruku).
Hadith 1298
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ ، نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا رَكَعَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَسَبَّحَ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَإِنَّهُ يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ ثَلاثَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ وَثَلاثُمِائَةِ عَظْمٍ وَثَلاثَةٌ وَثَلاثُونَ وَثَلاثُ مِائَةِ عِرْقٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person performs ruku‘, he should recite the tasbih three times, because he will be reciting tasbih with his body, and along with him, three hundred and thirty-three bones and three hundred and thirty-three veins will be glorifying Allah."
Hadith 1299
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا إبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ، ثنا آدَمُ ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا قَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَدْ تَمَّ رُكُوعُهُ وَذَلِكَ أَدْنَاهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person recites 'Subhana Rabbiyal Azim' three times in bowing (ruku'), his ruku' will be complete; this is its minimum amount. Glorified is the One who is free from all defects, who is the Lord of the angels and Jibreel (Gabriel), the trustworthy."
Hadith 1300
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الدَّقِيقِيُّ ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : " سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this supplication in bowing (ruku):...
Hadith 1301
قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي هِشَامٌ صَاحِبُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ وَسُجُودِهِ . قُلْتُ لِسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ حَرْبٍ : شُعْبَةُ يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : كَذَا قَالَ.
The narrator says: I asked Sulaiman bin Harb: Shu’bah has narrated this statement; Hisham narrated this to me, he said: He has narrated this very statement.
