بَابُ التَّأْمِينِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْجَهْرِ بِهَا
Chapter on saying Ameen in prayer after Al-Fatiha and saying it aloud
Hadith 1267
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ ، وَالْمُحَارِبِيُّ ، قَالا : ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ حُجْرٍ أَبِي الْعَنْبَسِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَنْبَسٍ ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذَا قَالَ : " غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، قَالَ : آمِينَ " ، يَمُدُّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : هَذِهِ سُنَّةٌ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهَا أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ ، هَذَا صَحِيحٌ وَالَّذِي بَعْدَهُ.
Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When the Imam recites 'ghayril maghdubi 'alayhim walad-dallin', he should say Ameen and prolong his voice in it." The narrator named Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) states: Doing so is Sunnah. The people of Kufa are unique in transmitting this narration. This narration is authentic, and the narration that follows it is also authentic.
Hadith 1268
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا ابْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ حُجْرٍ ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ ، سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ " بِآمِينَ " ، إِذَا قَالَ : غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 .
Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say "Ameen" aloud when he recited "ghayril maghdubi 'alayhim walad-dallin."
Hadith 1269
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالا : نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ حُجْرِ بْنِ عَنْبَسٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ وَائِلَ بْنَ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَرَأَ : غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، قَالَ : " آمِينَ " ، وَمَدَّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ . قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ : أَشَدُّ شَيْءٍ فِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلا كَانَ يَسْأَلُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَأَظُنُّ سُفْيَانَ تَكَلَّمَ بِبَعْضِهِ ، خَالَفَهُ شُعْبَةُ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ وَمَتْنِهِ.
Sayyiduna Wa’il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) recited “ghayril maghdubi ‘alayhim walad-dallin,” then he (peace be upon him) said Ameen. He prolonged (i.e., raised) his voice in it. One of the narrators of this narration, Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him), says: What is more severe regarding this is that a person asked (another narrator of this narration) Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) about it, so I think that Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) spoke about some part of it and that person spoke about another part of it. The narrator named Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) has reported a difference in its chain and text.
Hadith 1270
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا أَبُو الأَشْعَثِ ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ حُجْرِ أَبِي الْعَنْبَسِ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، ثنا وَائِلٌ ، أَوْ عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ حِينَ قَالَ : غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، قَالَ : " آمِينَ " ، وَأَخْفَى بِهَا صَوْتَهُ ، وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى ، وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ . كَذَا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : وَأَخْفَى بِهَا صَوْتَهُ ، وَيُقَالُ : إِنَّهُ وَهِمَ فِيهِ لأَنَّ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ ، وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ وَغَيْرَهُمَا ، رَوَوْهُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالُوا : وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ بِآمِينَ ، وَهُوَ الصَّوَابُ.
Sayyiduna Wa’il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I performed prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard him, when he recited “ghayril maghdubi ‘alayhim wa la-d-dallin,” he said Ameen. He said it in a low voice. During the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his right blessed hand over his left hand, and he turned to the right and to the left when saying salam. The narrator named Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) has transmitted these words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said Ameen in a low voice. According to one opinion, he was mistaken in this narration, because other narrators have transmitted it from the narrator named Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) and have narrated this: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said Ameen in a loud voice, and this narration is correct.
Hadith 1271
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ خُشَيْشٍ ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا قَالَ : وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، قَالَ : " آمِينَ " ، مَدَّ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ . هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ صَحِيحٌ.
Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I performed prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). When he recited "wa la-d-dallin," he said "Ameen," and he raised his voice in it. The chain of this hadith is authentic.
Hadith 1272
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الدَّقَّاقُ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مَنْصُورِ أَبُو مَنْصُورٍ ، ثنا بَحْرٌ السِّقَاءُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا قَالَ : وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، قَالَ : آمِينَ " ، وَرَفَعَ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ .
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recited "wa la-d-dallin," he would say "Ameen," and he would say it aloud.
Hadith 1273
وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَحْوَهُ . بَحْرٌ السِّقَاءُ ضَعِيفٌ.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The narrator of the previous narration, Bahr, is a trustworthy weak narrator.
Hadith 1274
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، وَسَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ قِرَاءَةِ أُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ رَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ ، وَقَالَ : آمِينَ " . هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, he would say "Ameen" aloud. The chain of this narration is 'Hasan' (good).
