Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Can a person pray in a single garment?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do all of you have two garments?" The narrator states: During the time of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), a man stood before him and said, "O Commander of the Faithful! Can a person pray wearing a single garment?" So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "When Allah has given you ease, then give ease to yourselves as well." The narrator states: After that, that man would pray wearing an izar (lower garment) and wrapping a sheet over himself, or wearing a shirt and an izar, or wearing trousers and a qaba (cloak), or wearing trousers and wrapping a sheet over himself, or wearing trousers and a shirt, or wearing a qaba. The narrator is uncertain: Perhaps the words are: He would pray wearing pajamas and a shirt, or wearing pajamas and wrapping a sheet over himself, or wearing pajamas and a qaba.
Hadith 1092
Urwah bin Mughirah narrates from his father: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "No prophet has passed away until someone from his people has led him in prayer." (Imam Daraqutni, may Allah have mercy on him, says) One of the narrators of this narration, Ibn Abu Umayyah, is not reliable.
