بَابُ جَوَازِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْجَبَائِرِ
Chapter on the permissibility of wiping over splints (casts)
Hadith 876
ثنا دَعْلَجُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الصَّائِغُ ، بِمَكَّةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ وَهُوَ خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْجَبَائِرِ يَكُونُ عَلَى الْكَسِيرِ كَيْفَ يَتَوَضَّأُ صَاحِبُهَا وَكَيْفَ يَغْتَسِلُ إِذَا أَجْنَبَ ؟ قَالَ : " يَمْسَحَانِ بِالْمَاءِ عَلَيْهَا فِي الْجَنَابَةِ وَالْوُضُوءِ " ، قُلْتُ : فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي بَرْدٍ يَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ إِذَا اغْتَسَلَ ؟ قَالَ : " يَمُرُّ عَلَى جَسَدِهِ " ، وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا سورة النساء آية 29 ، وَيَتَيَمَّمُ إِذَا خَافَ " .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the bandage that is tied over a wound—how should such a person perform ablution, and if he becomes in a state of major impurity, how should he perform ghusl? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Such a person should wipe over it with water in the state of major impurity.” Then I asked: What if it is cold or there is fear for his life? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He should wipe over his whole body.” Then he recited this verse: “Do not kill yourselves; indeed, Allah is merciful to you.” He said: “If such a person fears (harm), then he should perform tayammum.”
Hadith 877
ثنا دَعْلَجُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، نا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ . أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ضَعِيفٌ.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Its narrator, Abu al-Walid Khalid bin Yazid al-Makki, is weak.
Hadith 878
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْفَارِسِيُّ ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ بْنِ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : انْكَسَرَ إِحْدَى زَنْدَيَّ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَمْسَحَ عَلَى الْجَبَائِرِ " . عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Imam Zaidi narrates from his father (Imam Zain al-Abidin), who narrates from his grandfather (Imam Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, this statement: One of my joints was broken. Regarding this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, so he instructed me: "I should wipe (perform masah) over the bandage."
Hadith 879
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ، نا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَرَّاقُ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ ، نا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، نا عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ.
The same narration is also transmitted with another chain from Amr bin Khalid Wasiti.
