Abdur Rahman bin Ghanm reports: I asked Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) about a menstruating woman who becomes pure shortly before sunset. He replied: “She should perform the ‘Asr prayer.” I asked: “What about the one who becomes pure before the disappearance of twilight?” He replied: “She should perform the Maghrib prayer.” I asked: “If she becomes pure before true dawn?” He replied: “She should perform the ‘Isha prayer.” I asked: “What about the one who becomes pure before sunrise?” He replied: “She should perform the Fajr prayer.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us in this manner: “We should teach our women, that is, our wives, this matter.” This narration has been transmitted by a narrator named Muhammad bin Sa’eed. This person is abandoned in hadith.
