Hadith 717
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ ، نا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَتَيَمَّمُ بِمَرْبَدِ النَّعَمِ ، وَصَلَّى وَهُوَ عَلَى ثَلاثَةِ أَمْيَالٍ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ فَلَمْ يُعِدْ " .
Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform tayammum at the place of Marbad al-Na'am, which is at a distance of three miles from Madinah Munawwarah. After that (he would perform the prayer and then) when he entered Madinah Munawwarah, the sun would be fully risen, but he would not repeat the prayer.
Hadith 718
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 719
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَرَ الْقَاضِي ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : " تَيَمَّمَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَلَى رَأْسِ مِيلٍ أَوْ مِيلَيْنِ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ، فَقَدِمَ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ فَلَمْ يُعِدِ الصَّلاةَ " .
Nafi' reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed tayammum and offered the Asr prayer at a distance of one or two miles from Madinah Munawwarah. Then he came (to the city) and the sun was still high. He did not repeat the prayer.
Hadith 720
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ، نا مُعَلًّى ، نا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أَجْنَبَ الرَّجُلُ فِي السَّفَرِ تَلَوَّمَ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ آخِرِ الْوَقْتِ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدِ الْمَاءَ تَيَمَّمَ وَصَلَّى " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When a person is on a journey, he should calculate the time between himself and the last time for the prayer. If he cannot find water, then he should perform tayammum."
