Chapter: What is narrated about shortening (the beard)
Hadith 560
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبْدِ الْخَالِقِ ، نا أَبُو عُلاثَةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، نا أبِي ، نا ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا رَعَفَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلاتِهِ فَلْيَنْصَرِفْ فَلْيَغْسِلْ عَنْهُ الدَّمَ ، ثُمَّ لِيُعِدْ وَضُوءَهُ وَيَسْتَقْبِلْ صَلاتَهُ " . سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ مَتْرُوكٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person suffers a nosebleed during prayer, he should go back, wash off the blood, perform ablution again, and offer the prayer anew." The narrator of this narration, Sulaiman bin Arqam, is abandoned.
Hadith 561
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الصَّوَّافِ ، نا حَامِدٌ ، نا سُرَيْجٌ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ الضَّمْضَمِ ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " الْبَحْرُ مَاءٌ طَهُورٌ لِلْمَلائِكَةِ ، إِذَا نَزَلُوا تَوَضَّئُوا وَإِذَا صَعِدُوا تَوَضَّئُوا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: "The water of the sea is the ablution water of the angels; when they descend, they perform ablution with it, and when they ascend, they perform ablution with it."
