Hadith 480
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ، وَأَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بِوَاسِطَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْبَزَّازُ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَسَّانِيُّ ، قَالا : ثنا وَكِيعٌ ، نا مِسْعَرٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَقَالَ الْحَسَّانِيُّ : " رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفِّ لِلْمُسَافِرِ ثَلاثًا إِلا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ ، وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ رِيحٍ " . لَمْ يَقُلْ فِي هَذَا : أَوْ رِيحٍ ، غَيْرُ وَكِيعٍ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ.
Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In one narration, these words are mentioned: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted concession for the traveler to wipe over the leather socks for three days. However, the ruling for major ritual impurity (janabah) is different; this ruling is only for defecation, urination, or the passing of wind (i.e., after these, a person may wipe over the leather socks during ablution)." The ruling regarding the passing of wind is mentioned in only one narration.
Hadith 481
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لُؤْلُؤٌ ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخَيَّاطُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَجِدُ بَلَلا وَلا يَذْكُرُ احْتِلامًا ، قَالَ : " يَغْتَسِلُ " ، وَعَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَرَى أَنْ قَدِ احْتَلَمَ وَلا يَجِدُ بَلَلا ، قَالَ : " لا غُسْلَ عَلَيْهِ " ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ : أَعْلَى الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى ذَلِكَ غُسْلٌ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ إِنَّ الرِّجَالَ شَقَائِقُ النِّسَاءِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a person who sees wetness but does not remember experiencing a wet dream. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should perform ghusl (ritual bath)." He was asked about a person who remembers experiencing a wet dream but does not see any wetness. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ghusl is not obligatory upon him." Lady Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: "If a woman sees this, is the same ruling applicable to her?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Women are the counterparts of men."
Hadith 482
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَكِيلُ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، ثنا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، تَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْغُسْلُ مِنْ خَمْسَةٍ : مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ ، وَغُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَغُسْلُ الْمَيِّتِ ، وَالْغُسْلُ مِنْ مَاءِ الْحَمَّامِ " . مُصْعَبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ ضَعِيفٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) saying: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Ghusl becomes obligatory in five cases: after janabah, performing ghusl on Friday, after washing a deceased person, after bathing in the water of a public bath.” The narrator of this narration, Mus’ab bin Shu’bah, is weak.
Hadith 483
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمَحَامِلِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ خُشَيْشٍ ، قَالا : نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، نا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَاعِدًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ أَصَابَ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ لا تَحِلُّ لَهُ فَلَمْ يَدَعْ شَيْئًا يُصِيبُهُ الرَّجُلُ مِنِ امْرَأَتِهِ إِلا قَدْ أَصَابَهُ مِنْهَا إِلا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُجَامِعْهَا ؟ فَقَالَ : " تَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءًا حَسَنًا ثُمَّ قُمْ فَصَلِّ " ، قَالَ : فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ : وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ سورة هود آية 114 ، فَقَالُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ : أَهِيَ لَهُ خَاصَّةً أَمْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ عَامَّةً ؟ فَقَالَ : " بَلْ هِيَ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ عَامَّةً " . صَحِيحٌ.
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once he was sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), when a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! What do you say about a person who approaches a woman who is not lawful for him, and does with her everything that men do with women, except that he does not have intercourse with her?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Perform ablution well, then stand up and offer prayer." The narrator states: Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at some hours of the night." Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Is this command specific to this person or for all Muslims?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "It is general for all Muslims." This narration is authentic.
Hadith 484
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْبَاقِي بْنُ قَانِعٍ ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ يَزِيدَ الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَدِينِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : لا تُعَادُ الصَّلاةُ مِنَ الْقُبْلَةِ ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُقَبِّلُ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ وَيُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . خَالَفَهُ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ زَاذَانَ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: "The prayer does not have to be repeated because of kissing." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would kiss one of his noble wives and then perform the prayer, and he would not perform ablution again. In the chain of this narration, a narrator named Mansur bin Dadhan has reported this matter in this way.
Hadith 485
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْجَرَوِيُّ ، نا أَبُو حَفْصٍ التِّنِّيسِيُّ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " لَقَدْ كَانَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُنِي إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ وَمَا يَتَوَضَّأُ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet of Allah used to kiss me, then he would go to perform the prayer and would not perform ablution again.
Hadith 486
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، قَالُوا : نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، وَلَمْ يُتَابَعْ عَلَيْهِ وَلَيْسَ بِقَوِيٍّ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ، وَالْمَحْفُوظُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " . وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ الْحُفَّاظُ الثِّقَاتُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، مِنْهُمْ مَعْمَرٌ ، وَعُقَيْلٌ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ وَقَالَ مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ الْوُضُوءُ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ مَا رَوَاهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ صَحِيحًا ، لَمَا كَانَ الزُّهْرِيُّ يُفْتِي بِخِلافِهِ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
The same narration is transmitted with some other chains, in which, in one narration, these words are present: Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss while in the state of fasting. Imam Malik has transmitted this statement of Imam Zuhri: "After kissing, ablution becomes obligatory." So, if the narration transmitted from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) through Zuhri is accepted as correct, then Zuhri should not have given a fatwa contrary to it; and Allah knows best!
Hadith 487
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " مِنْ قُبْلَةِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ الْوُضُوءُ " .
Imam Malik narrates this statement from Ibn Shihab Zuhri, who says: "If a husband kisses his wife, then performing ablution will become obligatory upon him."
Hadith 488
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا حَاجِبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، نا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " قَبَّلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْضَ نِسَاءِهِ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " . ثُمَّ ضَحِكَتْ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ الْحَاجِبُ ، عَنْ وَكِيعٍ وَوَهِمَ فِيهِ وَالصَّوَابُ ، عَنْ وَكِيعٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " ، وَحَاجِبٌ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كِتَابٌ إِنَّمَا كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ مِنْ حِفْظِهِ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Messenger of Allah would kiss one of his wives, then perform prayer without renewing his ablution. (After stating this) Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) smiled. In another narration, these words are mentioned: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss while he was in a state of fasting.
Hadith 489
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْوَرَّاقُ ، نا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، نا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا بَلَغَهَا قَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ الْوُضُوءُ ، فَقَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، ثُمَّ لا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . وَلا أَعْلَمُ حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ هَكَذَا ، غَيْرُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ.
It is narrated about Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): She came to know of a statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that ablution becomes necessary after kissing. So Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss while fasting and he would not perform ablution again."
Hadith 490
وَذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : نا ابْنُ الْمُصَفَّى ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءٌ " .
In one narration, these words are mentioned: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Kissing does not make ablution obligatory."
Hadith 491
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، نا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُقَبِّلُ امْرَأَتَهُ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ وَلا يُعِيدُ الْوُضُوءَ " . فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : لَئِنْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ مَا كَانَ إِلا مِنْكِ ، فَسَكَتَتْ . هَكَذَا قَالَ فِيهِ : إِنَّ رَجُلا قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ .
Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A person reported that someone asked Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about a man who kisses his wife after performing ablution. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss one of his wives and would not perform ablution again." That person said: "If that is so, then that wife must have been you." The narrator states: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) remained silent.
Hadith 491/2
وَذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمَرْزُبَانِ ، نا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 492
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْحُنَيْنِيُّ ، نا جَنْدَلُ بْنُ وَالِقٍ ، نا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ غَالِبٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " رُبَّمَا قَبَّلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . غَالِبٌ هُوَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ مَتْرُوكٌ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sometimes the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would kiss me and then perform prayer without renewing his ablution. The narrator of this report is Ghalib ibn Ubaidullah, and he is abandoned (matruk).
Hadith 493
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، نا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . يُقَالُ : إِنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ صَالِحٍ وَهِمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ حَدِيثُ غَالِبٍ . وَرَوَاهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، مِنْ قَوْلِهِ وَهُوَ الصَّوَابُ ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ حَدِيثُ غَالِبٍ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss and then perform prayer, and he would not perform ablution again.
Hadith 494
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَشِّرٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءٌ " . وَهَذَا هُوَ الصَّوَابُ.
Ata reports: "Kissing does not necessitate performing ablution (wudu)." This narration is authentic.
Hadith 495
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ سَهْلٍ الْبَرْبَهَارِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ مَالَجَ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، ثنا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا حَاجِبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَنَّاطُ ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَبَّلَ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " . قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : مَنْ هِيَ إِلا أَنْتِ ؟ فَضَحِكَتْ . وَقَالَ ابْنُ مَالَجَ : " يُقَبِّلُ بَعْضَ أَزْوَاجِهِ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ هِيَ إِلا أَنْتِ ؟ فَضَحِكَتْ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss one of his wives and then go for prayer without performing ablution again. The narrator, Urwah, says: I said to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Who could that woman be other than you?" So Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) smiled. In another narration, these words are mentioned: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss one of his wives and then perform prayer and would not perform ablution again. (The narrator says:) So I said, "Who could that woman be other than you?" So Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) smiled.
Hadith 496
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِشْكَابَ ، وَعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالُوا : نا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ، نا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْبِحُ صَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلصَّلاةِ ، فَتَلَقَّاهُ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ فَيُقَبِّلُهَا ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي " . قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : قُلْتُ لَهَا مَنْ تَرِينَهُ غَيْرُكِ ؟ فَضَحِكَتْ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would be in a state of fasting and would perform ablution for prayer, then one of his wives would come before him and he would kiss her, and then perform the prayer (i.e., he would not perform ablution again). The narrator named Urwah states: I said to her, "Who could it be besides you?" So Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) smiled.
Hadith 497
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ اللَّبَّانِ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ، نا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، ح حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجْمِ ، بِالرَّافِقَةِ ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، نا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثُمَّ يُقَبِّلُ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . لَفْظُهُمَا وَاحِدٌ .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution, then kiss his wife, and then offer prayer without performing ablution again. The wording of both is the same.
Hadith 498
ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، يَقُولُ وَذُكِرَ لَهُ حَدِيثُ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ . فَقَالَ : أَمَا إِنَّ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ كَانَ أَعْلَمَ النَّاسِ بِهَذَا زَعَمَ أَنَّ حَبِيبًا لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ عُرْوَةَ شَيْئًا.
This same narration is also transmitted with another chain. Regarding this, Sufyan Thawri, who is the most knowledgeable, says: The narrator named Habib did not hear hadiths from Urwah.
Hadith 499
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، نا صَالِحُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى ، وَذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ حَدِيثًا الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، " تُصَلِّي وَإِنْ قَطَرَ الدَّمُ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ وَفِي الْقُبْلَةِ " . قَالَ يَحْيَى : احْكِ عَنِّي أَنَّهُمَا شِبْهٌ لا شَيْءَ.
Urwah reports: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to perform prayer even though drops of blood were falling onto the mat. Similarly, regarding kissing, the narrator named Yahya has reported: "Convey this from me." The status of both is the same, as there is no harm in them.
Hadith 500
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَخْزَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالا : نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْبُسْرِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ غُنْدَرٌ ، نا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثُمَّ يُقَبِّلُ بَعْدَمَا يَتَوَضَّأُ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . هَذَا حَدِيثُ غُنْدَرٍ ، وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَبَّلَ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " . وَقَالَ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ : " إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبَّلَهَا وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " . وَقَالَ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ . لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، غَيْرُ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، وَلا نَعْلَمُ حَدَّثَ بِهِ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، وَأَبِي حَنِيفَةَ ، وَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ فَأَسْنَدَهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَأَسْنَدَهُ أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ وَكِلاهُمَا أَرْسَلَهُ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ التَّمِيمِيُّ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ عَائِشَةَ وَلا مِنْ حَفْصَةَ وَلا أَدْرَكَ زَمَانَهُمَا . وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ فَوَصَلَ إِسْنَادَهُ . وَاخْتُلِفَ عَنْهُ فِي لَفْظُهُ ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنْهُ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ . وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُقَبِّلُ وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution, and after performing ablution, he would kiss (his wife), and then he would offer prayer and would not perform ablution again. The narrator named Waki’ has stated this: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss one of his noble wives and then would offer prayer and would not perform ablution again. The narrator named Ibn Mahdi has stated this: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss her (his wife) and would not perform ablution again. The narrator named Abu Asim has stated this: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss (his wife) and then would offer prayer and would not perform ablution again. This narration is also transmitted with some other chains, however, there is some difference found in its chain. In one narration, these words are present: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss while in the state of fasting. In one narration, these words are present: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss and would not perform ablution again, and Allah knows best!
Hadith 501
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، ثنا الْجُرْجَانِيُّ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ ، ثُمَّ لا يُعِيدُ الْوُضُوءَ ، أَوْ قَالَتْ : يُصَلِّي " .
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss (his wife) after performing ablution and would not perform ablution again. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) He would perform prayer.
Hadith 502
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ ، نا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا قَبِيصَةُ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي " ، مِثْلَهُ . وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ .
This is also narrated with another chain: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), after performing ablution, would kiss (his wife) and then perform the prayer.
Hadith 503
فَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْجَارُودِ الْقَطَّانُ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ حَاجِبٍ ، نا أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ " كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلصَّلاةِ ثُمَّ يُقَبِّلُ وَلا يُحْدِثُ وُضُوءًا " .
The noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates this about the Prophet (peace be upon him): He (peace be upon him) would perform ablution for prayer and then kiss (his wife), and he would not perform ablution again.
Hadith 504
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، نا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، نا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " . كَذَا قَالَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss her while he was in a state of fasting. Uthman bin Abu Shu'aib has transmitted it in the same manner.
Hadith 505
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ، نا هِشَامٌ ، نا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ ، ثنا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، نا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ، أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُقَبِّلُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَيَلْمِسُهَا ، أَيَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : " لَرُبَّمَا تَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَبَّلَنِي ثُمَّ يَمْضِي فَيُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . زَيْنَبُ هَذِهِ مَجْهُولَةٌ وَلا تَقُومُ بِهَا حُجَّةٌ.
Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from Sayyida Zainab: She asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about a man who kisses his wife and touches her, so is it obligatory for him to perform ablution? Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "Sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution, then kiss me, and then go and offer prayer without performing ablution again." The narrator of this narration, Zainab, is unknown, and such a narration cannot be presented as evidence.
Hadith 506
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، نا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، نا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ السَّهْمِيَّةِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . قَالَ : وَكَانَ عَطَاءٌ لا يَرَى فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءًا .
Amr bin Shu'aib, narrating from Sayyida Zainab, reports: Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to kiss her and then perform prayer without renewing his ablution. According to Ata, kissing does not necessitate ablution.
Hadith 507
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الشَّافِعِيُّ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ، نا مُعَلًّى ، مِثْلَهُ.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 508
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ ، قَالا : نا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، نا أَبُو بَدْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غَالِبٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ بَعْضَ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ لا يُحْدِثُ وُضُوءًا " . قَوْلُهُ : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ غَالِبٍ وَهْمٌ ، وَإِنَّمَا أَرَادَ غَالِبَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْجُهَنِيُّ هُوَ خَالِدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَلَيْسَ بِالَّذِي يَرْوِي عَنْهُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss one of his wives and would not perform ablution again. Here, the narrator's statement that this narration is transmitted from Abdullah bin Ghalib is a mistake. What was meant is that it is transmitted from Ghalib bin Ubaidullah, and this narrator is abandoned.
Hadith 509
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءٌ " .
Ata is of the opinion: "Kissing does not necessitate ablution (wudu)."
Hadith 510
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْبُخَارِيُّ ، نا حَامِدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْبُخَارِيُّ ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، نا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي وَلا يَتَوَضَّأُ " . هَذَا خَطَأٌ مِنْ وُجُوهٍ.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss (his wife) while he was in a state of fasting, then after that he would perform prayer and would not perform ablution again. There are several errors in this from various aspects.
Hadith 511
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْوَكِيلُ ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، ثنا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَالأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، " أَنَّهُ كَانَ لا يَرَى فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءًا " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): In his view, performing wudu is not obligatory after kissing.
Hadith 512
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَشِّرٍ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ هُشَيْمٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ فِي الْقُبْلَةِ وُضُوءٌ " . صَحِيحٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Wudu does not become obligatory by kissing." This narration is authentic.
Hadith 513
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ ، نا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، وَحَوْثَرَةُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ . ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ ، وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَرَامَةَ ، قَالُوا : نا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتِ : افْتَقَدْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنَ الْفِرَاشِ ، فَالْتَمَسْتُهُ بِيَدِي فَوَقَعَتْ يَدَيْ عَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ وَهُمَا مُنْتَصِبَانِ ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ ، وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ ، وَبِكَ مِنْكَ ، لا أُحْصِي مَدْحَتَكَ وَثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ " . هَذَا لَفْظُ ابْنِ كَرَامَةَ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ : بِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ . تَابَعَهُ عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . وَخَالَفَهُمْ وُهَيْبٌ ، وَمُعْتَمِرٌ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، فَرَوَوْهُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَقَالُوا عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: One night I did not find the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the bed. I searched for him with my hand and my hand touched his feet, which were in the position of prostration. I heard him supplicating: "O Allah! I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You as You have praised Yourself." There are some differences in the chain of narration of this report.
Hadith 514
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، نا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ، نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، نا حُرَيْثٌ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " رُبَّمَا اغْتَسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَلَمْ أَغْتَسِلْ بَعْدُ فَجَاءَنِي فَضَمَمْتُهُ إِلَيَّ وَأَدْفَيْتُهُ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sometimes the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would perform ghusl (ritual bath) for janabah (major impurity) during the cold season, and I had not yet performed ghusl for janabah. He would come to me, and I would embrace him and warm his body.
Hadith 515
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاضِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، قَالا : نا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ، نا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، نا الْفَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ فِرَاشِي ، فَقُلْتُ : قَامَ إِلَى جَارِيَتِهِ مَارِيَةَ ، فَقُمْتُ أَتَجَسَّسُ الْجُدُرَ وَلَيْسَ لَنَا كَمَصَابِيحِكُمْ هَذِهِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ سَاجِدٌ ، فَوَضَعْتُ يَدَيْ عَلَى صَدْرِ قَدَمَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ ، لا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ " . الْفَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ضَعِيفٌ . خَالَفَهُ يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، وَوُهَيْبٌ وَغَيْرُهُمَا ، رَوَوْهُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، مُرْسَلا.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Once, I did not find the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on my bed, so I got up. I thought that he might have gone to his slave woman Maria. I got up and began to feel along the walls, because in those days we did not have lamps like you people do. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was in the state of prostration. I placed my hand on the back of his feet, and he was supplicating in prostration: "O Allah! I seek refuge in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot praise You as You have praised Yourself." One of the narrators of this narration, Faraj bin Fadalah (may Allah have mercy on him), is weak. Some other narrators have transmitted it as a mursal (disconnected) hadith.
Hadith 516
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَبَّلَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى وُضُوءٍ أَعَادَ الْوُضُوءَ " . صَحِيحٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "Whoever kisses his wife while in a state of ablution, then he should perform ablution again." This narration is authentic.
Hadith 517
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاضِي حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاضِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي قُتَيْلَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْقُبْلَةَ مِنَ اللَّمْسِ ، فَتَوَضَّئُوا مِنْهَا " . صَحِيحٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Kissing is a part of touching (as mentioned in the Qur'an), so perform ablution after it." This narration is authentic.
Hadith 518
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، نا مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " فِي قُبْلَةِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَجَسِّهِ بِيَدِهِ مِنَ الْمُلامَسَةِ ، وَمَنْ قَبَّلَ امْرَأَتَهُ أَوْ جَسَّهَا بِيَدِهِ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ " . صَحِيحٌ.
Salim narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both): He said regarding a man kissing his wife and touching her with his hand: "This is included in 'lamas' (touching), so whoever kisses his wife or touches her with his hand, then ablution (wudu) becomes obligatory upon him." This narration is authentic.
