Abu Ammar narrates: He had the honor of meeting some of the noble companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He narrates: Once, Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him): "What do you claim? Did you have the honor of accepting Islam very early?" (After this, he narrated the whole incident.) Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "I said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me something about ablution (wudu)!" So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever begins to perform ablution, let him first rinse his mouth, then inhale water into his nose and clean it, so that all his sins come out from it, even from the nostrils, along with the water. Then when he washes his face, as Allah Almighty has commanded him, all the sins from his face, even from the edges of his beard, fall away with the water. Then when he washes both his arms up to the elbows, all the sins from his arms, even from under his fingernails, fall away with the water. Then when he wipes his head, all the sins from his head, even from the edges of his hair, fall away with the water. Then when he washes his feet up to the ankles, as Allah Almighty has commanded him, all the sins from his feet, even from the edges of his toes, fall away with the water. Then he stands up and praises Allah Almighty as is His due, glorifies Him, and then performs two units of prayer, he becomes as free from sins as the day his mother gave birth to him."

Abdur Rahman bin Sabit narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), or perhaps from the brother of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him): Once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw some people (performing ablution), and on the heel of one of them, an area the size of a dirham, or perhaps the size of a fingernail, had not been touched by water. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to say: "Woe to the heels from the Fire." (The narrator states:) "A person should examine this matter; if he sees a place where water has not reached, then he should perform ablution again."
Hadith 381

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once a man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he had performed ablution but had left a portion the size of a fingernail on his foot (where water had not reached), so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him: "Go back and perform ablution properly." In narrating this from Qatadah, the narrator named Jarir bin Hazim is unique, and this narrator is trustworthy.

Salim narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the statement of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Once I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a man came." In another narration, it is mentioned that Salim narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), this narration about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator states: Once a man came, who had performed ablution, but a portion on the back of his foot, equal to the size of his toenail, had not been touched by water (i.e., that part remained dry during ablution), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go back and complete your ablution!" So the man did so.

Ubaid bin Umair narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) once saw a man whose foot had a dry spot where water had not reached during ablution. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Did you participate in the prayer with this ablution?" It is narrated about Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): Once he saw a man whose the upper part of his foot was dry, water had not reached there, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Did you join the prayer with this ablution?" He replied: "O Commander of the Faithful! It is very cold and I do not have anything to protect against it." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) initially began to be strict with him, but upon hearing this, he became gentle and said to him: "Wash the part of your foot that you left and repeat the prayer." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) instructed that a cloak be given to him.

Ala bin Ziyad narrates from one of the companions of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him): Once, the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) came to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them). He had performed ghusl, but there was a part of his body that remained dry where the water had not reached. We said, "O Messenger of Allah! This part has remained dry, has the water not reached here?" The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) had thick blessed hair, and he moistened that part using the wetness from his (wet) hair. One of the narrators of this narration is Abdussalam bin Salih Basri, and he is not reliable. Other trustworthy narrators have transmitted it as a "mursal" narration from the narrator named Ishaq, from the narrator named Ala.

Alaa bin Ziyad Addi narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed ghusl (ritual bath) for janabah, then he noticed a small dry area on his neck. The narrator states: The Prophet (peace be upon him) moved his head, and (from the drops of water falling from his hair) that area became wet. This narration is mursal, and this is correct.
