بَابُ السِّوَاكِ
Chapter on the siwak (tooth-stick)
Hadith 160
نا عثْمَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّقَّاقُ ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ بُرْدٍ الأَنْطَاكِيُّ ، نا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، نا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " فِي السِّوَاكِ عَشْرُ خِصَالٍ : مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ تَعَالَى ، وَمَسْخَطَةٌ لِلشَّيْطَانِ ، وَمَفْرَحَةٌ لِلْمَلائِكَةِ ، جَيِّدٌ لِلَّثَةِ ، وَمُذْهِبٌ بِالْحَفَرِ ، وَيَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ ، وَيُطَيِّبُ الْفَمَ ، وَيُقَلِّلُ الْبَلْغَمَ ، وَهُوَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ ، وَيَزِيدُ فِي الْحَسَنَاتِ " . قَالَ الشَّيْخُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ : مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ضَعِيفٌ مَتْرُوكٌ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “There are ten virtues in the miswak: it pleases the Lord, angers Satan, pleases the angels, causes health and beauty of the gums, removes dirt from the teeth, sharpens eyesight, creates fragrance in the mouth, reduces phlegm, using the miswak is a Sunnah, and it increases good deeds.” Shaykh Abu al-Hasan states: The narrator of this narration, Mu’alla bin Maymun, is weak and abandoned.
